National Treasure Sequel Getting Started

Source: LA Daily News
August 3, 2006

Director Jon Turteltaub tells the LA Daily News that the sequel to Disney's 2004 Nicolas Cage hit, National Treasure, will start filming the first of the year.

"We are just about to start preproduction," says Turteltaub. "We'll have Nic, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel... Everyone's back except anyone who's in jail or died."

He adds that the sequel will take our intrepid adventurers to "exciting destinations within America as well as around the world. As we were shooting the first one, it kept changing, so I'm scared to commit to anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mount Rushmore made an appearance."

Like the first film, Turteltaub co-produces with Jerry Bruckheimer.

Normally I might protest, given that the first one ended not so open, but this will be more chances to see Diane Kruger. Thus, no complaining.

That movie sucked.

I saw it in the cheapies and thought I got ripped off.

The first one was not that great. No need for a sequel.

There's a sequel to this movie?

It should've been a standalone.

national treasure sucks

National Treasure was one of the most boring, inane, contrite, badly-written pieces of crap I have ever had the displeasure of being exposed to. The dialogue, the acting, everything was pretty abysmal.

It's pretty appropriate that it's about treasure, as this looked like strictly a paycheck job for Cage.

The prints should have been shredded.

I thought the movie was good considering it was from Disney.
Does it need a sequel? I don't think so, but I'd rather Disney work on this sequel than start working on the remake of Adventures in Babysitting.

Man....if they add an annoying little kid in the next one I'll laugh my ass off. lol

I smell a Mummy 2 here.... Anytime the main characters get married...they always suck in a sequel. Cause the sexual tension is gone. Plus... I Kuger was wayyyyyy too hot for Cage in that movie...and way younger too. Cage should have played her father. :(

National Treasure 2 Starts Filming in January
Source: MTV November 1, 2006

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer tells MTV that the highly-anticipated sequel to National Treasure is getting underway.

"I met with Nic yesterday, and it's getting very close," he said. "We're going to start filming in January."

Discussing the National Treasure 2 script, Bruckheimer revealed: "It's another little treasure hunt, and this time it involves [Abe] Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth and 18 pages which are actually missing from [Lincoln's] diary."

Teasing the plot further, Bruckheimer posed the central question of the sequel. "What was in those 18 pages?" he asked.

I really enjoyed the first one, I'm looking forward to the sequel.

It's probably more anticipated than Superman Returns 2. It had great legs and sold very well on DVD.

The first one was really crappy. Everyone compared it to Indiana Jones but it doesn't have half of the energy those movies have.

Your opinion of course.

I can't see how anyone could compare National Treasure to Indiana Jones.

Adding IMO to every post is a bit redundant. You know it's my opnion because I was the one who posted it in the first place.

They did. Unbelievable but true.

I guess that the fact that they were looking for a treasure is a thing they have in common. the press loves to compare.

1st movie was not bad , but I doubt sequel will be hit.
