there should be less of a focus on American History and go for more hardcore action... Violence, mayhem and explosions... the next movie needs more of that... Guns blazing, hammer thumping killing.

I'm surprised Nic Cage didn't get into a massive fist fight with Ed Harris... That or be more brutal... Kick him off the balancing platform at the end or he should've thrown gold coins at him

Or even better, anytime is loser assistant comes up with something, slap him up big time by the back of the head like Joe Pesci. The next film needs to be more hardcore, more action, more brutal... and call it Global Treasure... have him fight ancient mystic tribes and get into big Rundown style martial arts fights.

No no, they should call it BRUTAL TREASURE! (with the explaimation point in the title)
And Nic Cage should have to fight ninja's to save a magical golden cup that's filled with chocolate pudding that has the ability to heal.

Oh, and throw a couple Vikings in it too.

6/10 The first one was better.

This one had to many family issues in it. Just seemed like they took too long about family problems then getting straight to the point. Ed Harris was an ok villian, but I'd prefer Sean Bean as the better one. I wouldn't be surprised to see a third movie come out of this. They should have kept the first movie and left it as a single movie rather than making it into a sequel. With a great cast of characters like this in the movie, I was expecting better.

Saw this last night, it's pretty much the same as the first although it zips along a little faster and the clues seem even more coincidental. I think the first was a better story with more interesting locations.

The acting is passable, Cage makes a likable guy as Ben gates, except in one excruciatingly embarrassing scene in Buckingham Palace, Jon Voight is OTT as his dad, Helen Mirren is fun in the few scenes she has and Ed Harris is the most 1 dimensional villain in some time, his character's so called arc is silly. Oddly the 2 stand outs are Justin Bartha and Diane Kruger, who makes Abigail a feisty and smart heroine.

Director Jon Turtletaub is no action director, if you said money shot to him he'd probably think you were referring to firing a coin out of a gun, the action set pieces in this are as bland as it gets with no flair or panache'.

Still the film has an affable charm and is an easy watch, it's the epitome of safe film making but not without some good/funny moments.

I saw it last night. It was okay, but these movies need more action.

I finally bought this on dvd the other night. I enjoyed the first one, so I figured the sequel wouldn't be bad. Actually, I liked it a bit more than the first one. I never really noticed these movies were PG. My only gripe is Reiley..he could have been cast better.

i give it a 7. i liked the first one better.

I’ll give it a 7 as well. I think it was entertaining sequel; however I just didn't like Ed Harris character at all. I think I might add this movie to my DVD collection.

Look forward to seeing National Treasure 3.

One big flaw in the movie

The palace is only open to the public Aug/sept when the Queen is away, then they went to Washington (say 2 days later) and they were doing an Easter hunt which would put it March/April time.

Tut tut...

And another Flaw ENGLISH PEOPLE DONT SOUND THAT THAT MR CAGE!!!!

Was an ok movie i guess 6/10

I have no idea why people don't like these movies for there very good stories and close too Indy in that area. National Treasure to be deserves a 3rd movie to wrap it up. If we get a Mummy 3 please give us NT3. Nick Cage character and Krugers character shoudl get married at the end like Indy and Marion Ravenwood.

Oddly the 2 stand outs are Justin Bartha and Diane Kruger, who makes Abigail a feisty and smart heroine.

That was the opinion that I had after the movie as well. I wasn't that surprised by Diane Kruger, because I've thought that she's turned in good performances in every film of hers that I've seen, and she turned in another good performance in this one. Bartha was, I thought, even better in this one than he was in the first, and he and Kruger almost steal the show from the more high-profile actors in the cast.

As for a potential sequel, I hope that they make one if for no other reason than keeping the trio of Nicholas Cage, Diane Kruger, and Justin Bartha together for another film. They're one of the more entertaing group of actors to come around in a while and it would be great if they made more movies together.

Well you gotta bring John Voight back as Cages dad for it be not the same and Harvey Kietel as well.

I liked this for entertainment but the clues in this one as compared to the last were a little out of left field and the trials they had to go thru were a bit much. Breaking into the oval office, Buckingham palace, and kidnapping the president was a bit more of a stretch than I like. I'd like to see them do some more research if they decide to do a third and come up with a really plausible mystery plot line.

I had the same problem with Indiana Jones
the aliens were too much

I have an idea what Page 47 could be.

Pyramids. The President told Ben that he was into architecture. I'm guessing that's why he wanted him to look into Page 47.
