I've tried using iPod Rip but that program doesn't work for me for some odd reason.

I need to transfer 965 MP3 songs back to my PC so I can upload them to a new iPod. Can anyone help?

can't you do a direct translation from one ipod to another,

that kinda sucks...

Read your iPod as a hard drive, view hidden files, copy them to a folder in your PC, chance the settings in your iTunes to Keep iTunes Music folder organized and to Copy Music to your iTunes folder.
Drag and drop the music files you copied to iTunes and they should organize themselves in some minutes, depending on the amount of files.

I've never used any of them, but there are a ton of PC utilities that do this:

Some of them are free, some of them are not. You can thank the music industry for this "feature" of iTunes. They wouldn't let Apple sell their music on their online store unless Apple put in a failsafe to keep people from "pirating" music by copying it off of other people's iPods using Apple's software. :down
