I have this assignment where I have to explain the artistic principles in a couple of sculptures. I'm stuck. I've searched and googled but I need some assistance.

The first Sculpture is Rodin's The Thinker

The second is Michelangelo's Chapel of Pieta

I'll be your best friend if you can help me with this.

People with this sort of question posted in Community always puzzle me.

Now granted, there are some very artistic people on the Hype. However, you are more likely to find them in the Fan Art forum then in Community:

Then there's the second point, which is, you know your teacher, you know the sort of stuff your teacher expects... and yet...

That said, looking at The Thinker - I wonder why he made the legs and feet so large. Everything else looks fairly normal but they're bordering on grotesque.

The Chapel of Pieta is a much nicer looking statue and yet, Mary seems to be at an odd angle. Why place her in that position, leaning so far back?

What strikes you about the statues? Why would the artist do it that way and not another?

So much irony.

we have a fan art forum, but it's kinda dead at the moment....but uh......what do you need now? you need our help in explaining the artistic principles behind these works? here's a start...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principles_of_art

...read up on those and see how some of those principles apply to those works. bare in mind that multiple principles can apply to one piece.

I'm a musician. if they wanted me to explain the myxolydian scale I wouldn't have a problem.

The first thing I thought of when I read this was "Paging Commader Thrawn".

Quick, I need somebody's help that's an artist, this is an assignment that I needed to turn in about two weeks ago, does anyone know how to read a W-2?
