Neil Jordan's Byzantium

This was a film announcement, i have the right to voice my opinion, i'm not saying it's going to be bad, just that the market is overflowing with vampire films. No reason to get so protective, i think there are way too many zombie films recently yet i'm excited for World War Z, is there a problem there? Can't i tell my opinion of a genre?

And i'm not even the only one to show some disinterest in it due to being a Vampire film, are they trolls too? Of course not! I didn't insult you, the movie or even the genre, just that i'm kind of tired of vampire films.

If you are tired of Zombie movies, why do you care about World War Z?

You are not voicing your opinion on this film. You aren't talking about this film at all. You specifically said you didn't even care who was involved, which is is kind of the whole point of discussing a film pre-release. You simply came in here to complain about Vampire films without knowing the least bit about the film this thread is about.

What point is there entering a thread about a film involving vampires to complaining about there being a film involving vampires? It is the height of trolling.

Because i like good films perhaps?
World War Z seems like it's going to be something bigger than the previous zombie films, if this film manages to be very different from the other 10 of the same genre that are released every year then i will watch it.

And how the hell am i trolling? I'm saying there are so many vampire films now that a new one doesn't seem exciting, i'm not even the only one becoming disinterested due to it being a vampire film, do you even think the majority of people care about who's involved? Unless he's a really big thing at the moment they only watch ou for the actors and the litle of the plot they have seen in the trailer. Which is why Edgar Wright's films bomb and films like Scary Movie keep getting successful.

What's the problem of discussing this? There's even enough informtation to discuss the plot, and it sincerelly doesn't seem that exciting, you know why? Because one way or another we've basically seen everything this one brings, i'm not saying it's going to be bad, considering who's behind this it's most likelly going to be a good movie.

And do you even know what a troll is? As i said in my previous post i didn't come here to insult the film, the director or the fandom, i came to express my opinion as a cinema viewer. It's like going to a Uwe Boll film thread and not being allowed to say it looks bad.

And i'm very much discussing the film and the genre, don't know why you wouldn't think so.

Amazing trailer. Neil knows how to do vampires. Still waiting for his Vampire Lestat :cmad:

Gemma Arterton looks amazing in this, as she always does but the film actually looks interesting as well, will be keeping an eye out for this one.

Vampire movies don't do a while lot for me like they used to, but that blood waterfall scene has me intrigued. The fact that the scene also happens to feature Gemma arterton writhing in pleasure helps a great deal.

New trailer was decent, I would be interested in this anyway but with Arterton being in it I will HAVE to see it, love that woman!

I would describe it as good, not great. There's certainly some great, original, ideas but I just found it a bit tedious at times.

On a side not, the hospital scenes rang a bell for me but couldn't put my finger on why, but then I saw the neon lit tunnel and realised it was my old haunt University College Dublin. :oldrazz: Nice to see Jordan utilise Ireland.

Also, big up to the TDKR pit doctor. :oldrazz:

Yes. Her showered in blood excites the sicko in me.

I rather liked this film. It took me a while to get into the film and the pace is a bit leisurely but it was good. Nicely shot film. They made the most of the limited budget.

They tried to mix things up with the vampire mythology like others hake before them. I liked how vampires are 'made' in this movie and the brotherhood.

I liked the flashback scenes to the past more entertaining than the modern stuff. Neil Jordan is at home with the Gothic stuff as seen in his other movies Interview With The Vampire and The Company Of Wolves Jordan.

The cast is a solid bunch of British and Irish actors. Some good actors in small roles with the likes of Warren Brown, Tom Hollander, Daniel Mays and Jonny Lee Miller popping up.

I'm not sure what to make of Caleb Landry Jones in this movie he was kind of weird. Saoirse Ronan is great as always. Gemma Atherton was surprisingly good too. I liked Sam Riley in this Control, On The Road and Franklyn. He should get more work.

Finally got to see this after blind buying the BD and I thought it was very good, one of the better vampire flicks out there. The movie is slow but pulls its strands together satisfyingly at the end, and while it is slow it is never boring as we get the flashbacks to the past and the story of Eleanor and Clare from when they were human.

How they become vampires in this movie is very interesting and very well and a few other cool little things are added to the vampire mythology as well. All the cast are good, the acting on the whole is very strong but Saoirse and Gemma are just superb in this. Gemma especially is sexy as well but very well played also, a really good vampire flick, probably the best since Let Me In, 8/10.
