http://variety.com/2013/film/news/christopher-nolan-gemma-arterton-tim-roth-1200602873/Gemma Arterton and Tim Roth are heading to London, starring in the crime thriller “The Keys to the Street,” adapted from Ruth Rendell’s novel by Christopher Nolan and Michael Stokes.
Filming is set to start in the first quarter with Czech director Julius Sevcik lensing the London-set film in the U.K. Myriad and CAA are handling U.S. sales with Myriad introducing the film to international buyers at in Toronto.
“Keys” is set in London’s exclusive Regent’s Park area, where a woman accepts a house-sitting assignment in order to escape her violent and disturbed ex-boyfriend Alastair (Roth). As a series of murders occur in the neighborhood, she starts an affair with another man, played by Max Irons.
Pretty Pictures and Apollo Productions are the production companies. Producers are Gail Mutrux and Steve Norris, CEO of Apollo with Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico exec producing.
Project has been in development for several years with Arterton attached.
Myriad head Kirk D’Amico and David Ducar negotiated the deal.
““We were thrilled when Steve and Gail brought this fantastic but long gestating project to us,” said D’Amico. We think that audiences will love how Christopher Nolan and Michael Stokes have adapted this popular English mystery novel….with a dark edge, Julius and the producers have assembled an extraordinary cast headed by the accomplished and very lovely Gemma Arterton.””.
I think the script is very good,” Nolan once said. “I don’t think it’s what I want to do next. I think another director will do that. It’s a really cool script, but has a lot in common with the three films I’ve made, so it may not be the right film for me to do next.”
Arterton was also enthusiastic about the script , saying “Why on earth has this film been sitting around?”
