Neil Simon's The Odd Couple.

Well, the first season is coming out soon
I think I'll get it.

Time Life and CBS DVD has announced the release of The Odd Couple: The Complete First Season scheduled for 30th August 2006, with a price tag expected to be around $38.97. This will be the first time that a complete season of the The Odd Couple has made it onto DVD, containing all 24 episodes. It will feature never-before-offered bonus material including new episode commentaries by Jack Klugman, Producers Garry Marshall and Jerry Belson, and others, an introduction by Garry Marshall for every episode and a blooper reel. We should have a review for this title fairly soon, here's the artwork:

Here's a couple of quotes from the series

Oscar Madison: You want brown juice or green juice?
Felix Unger: What's the difference?
Oscar Madison: Three weeks.

[Oscar is dating the princess of a tiny European country]
Princess: My country is so small we only sent one athlete to the Olympics.
Oscar Madison: Oh? What event did he compete in?
Princess: All of them!
Oscar Madison: How did he do?
Princess: He died in the relays.

I think this is one series that could be re-made and be potentially successful.

Although knowing today's tv writers, tasteful humour would be out and it would be a half-hour crudefest.
