This film already has started some interesting conversations. One of my friends who thinks all minorities are just complainers says this movie looks bad because its all about how "just because some people have everything suddenly everyone has to have everything".

I was a bit like, yeah, that's sort of the definition of a modern human. That its not all about "give it to me it's mine"

I don't see it that way. Lets say the US had a place only for the most wealthy and all it had was pools, casinos, and fancy cars. I think most people would wish they could get in but it wouldn't keep them up at night. Now if that place had centers that could cure any cancer or problem, no violence, and the rest of the Country was living in hard times, then yeah you better believe people would be demanding to be let in to that place and I really wouldn't view it as just whiny self entitled people complaining.

Blomkamp wanted to cast Eninem and was going but he would only do it of they'd film in Detroit, they weren't able to and eventually Damon signed on. Oofta dodged an awful bullet there

Hard to think of a better place to film dystopian post-apocalyptic scenes than Detroit.

A good featurette on the HULC exosuit. I really like how these help introduce elements of the film, give behind the scenes info but don't spoil anything. Good marketing.

I am eagerly anticipating this film but I didn't know until now, except for that Matt Damon is in this and Blomkamp is directing this, that Sharlton Copley is that buff villain I'm seeing in the trailers. Wow.

A lot of movies actually come out with pretty good featurettes that play online or sometimes on FX and HBO.

When I go to movie theaters though the preshow before the trailers usually is made up of really bad pop music and car commercials.

Studios should do more to get these featurettes and things into theaters.

Did I mentioned to you guys that I've seen Elysium last year. August I think.

I liked...but the third act needed work. Tons of work. Hopefully they fixed it during the reshoots in Dec. Let's say there's a plot beat that makes you HATE Matt Damon's character. PM me if you want details. Hopefully I'll get back to you since I"ll be at Comic Con tomm. Plus the last fight scene had shakey camera galore. Again, I hope they fixed that too.

I give it a B minus. Creative and tangible world, but very light on the characters. And more Kruger wouldn't hurt either.

It's funny. It happened in this local shopping center. By chance I was shopping and right next to the theater, they were handing out passes to see a 'big 2013' film. I asked and the guy whispered 'It' from the guy who did District 9'. SOLD.

So I went in later that week to the screening with two of my friends. Keep in mind that only like 60 percent of the VFX were done. Elysium itself was barely done. Most of the robots were done though.

The plot beat I'm pretty sure they changed, dont remember where I read it, but I did, the script has none of that.

Isn't droid a copyrighted word? I recall people used to get in trouble for using it. George Lucas owns it.

Those droids might be the best cgi I've ever seen. In broad daylight too. 3 more weeks.

This film is almost here, feels like I've been waiting for it forever. I'm really hoping it does well. I also thought this thread would be more popular though.
