Neill Blomkamp's Demonic

I don't think the trailer is underwhelming at all. It's a teaser for a micro-budget movie but looks well done with some unique ideas.

In fact, as far as horror movies go it's probably the most intriguing trailer I've seen since the last Antlers one.

I like it. The demon/apparition looks pretty cool. Hope this is a return to form for Blomkamp.

I still think he could have delivered an awesome Aliens sequel. Too bad they chose to make Alien Covenant instead.

I’m starting to believe no one can make a good Alien movie anymore but yeah… whatever he cooked up couldn’t have been as bad as Covenant. Maybe…

Remember when in the early 2000s James Cameron and Ridley Scott wanted to make Alien 5 together with Sigourney Weaver returning but Tom Rothman over at Fox saw the success of Freddy vs Jason and instead rushed AvP into production? The film had four months of post-production. Four.

Yikes! I did not know that!

Not sure how good it would have been if it was more like Aliens but Scott directing. He doesn’t seem the right fit for an action heavy sequel.

So at what point do people admit that he only has one good movie?

Sure. But this is kinda tragic to me. I seen elsewhere where folks are celebrating his downfall and had them 'I told you' ready. I don't know, man, to me him losing his groove after his first movie is a lost for us film fans. Still, his first film is nearly perfect and can't think of much scifi type flicks in recent time that can come even close to his movie. I don't believe he ever wanted to make a sequel to that one either, but he now has no other choice. Dave Chappelle had a Hillary Clinton joke as to how we was going to put her face on coins after she became president. Blomkamp felt like he had next after aging Spielberg, Cameron, and PJ were out, he was suppose to be it. Damn.

Yeah, I'm rooting for the guy's comeback. I haven't liked his recent movies, but that doesn't mean I wish ill of the guy. It's like a Shyamalan situation. When I see a filmmaker with a breakout hit movie and never measures up to it, it's sad from an artistic standpoint. I still think the guy can pull it off.

Kinda in the same Blomkamp wheel house. Hell, there was even rumors back then that he was going to make this into a feature or help the director get it made, but it never happened. Unfortunately.

Yeah I think it’s messed up to to root for a guy to fail. I definitely admire him for trying to create original films and taking his time on projects. And all it takes is one hit to get back into Hollywood’s good graces. But I think it’s fair to say his output since D9 has been disappointing at best.

I'm still rooting for Blomkamp aswell, but man was this bad. It's almost hard for me to believe this is from the same guy who gave us District 9 because its so painfully generic and unscary.

Interesting concept though, but the execution here was just flat and while I can appreciate and respect directors for stepping out of their comfort zones horror just doesn't seem to be his thing.

I hated pretty much everything about District 9. Chappie wasn't much better. Elysium is barely worth rewatching. So its not much of a downfall.

This was a hodge podge of ideas that never went anywhere. Bland.

Give me the movie about the religious black ops team fighting demons.
