Not exactly. If Routh doesn't deliver, I can see this movie following the same fate as King Kong, another "big, epic" film which yielded dissapointing box office results. So far, all the non-comic fans I've talked to about this movie have said that Routh just doesn't look "right". I'm not saying they're condemning the movie, but the right actor goes along way, especially following Reeves.

So far, all the non-comic fans I've talked to about this movie have said that Routh just doesn't look "right". Really my friend find that Tobey don't look right for spiderman too and look at how well that did.

Routh will pull this off...judging from his interviews, this guy is approaching the character the same way Reeve did.

I dunno abt anyone else but when he turned ard mid-flying, the way he turned , the look on his face, it just exudes power...kinda like Jim Lee's Superman IMO.

I love the X-Men too and I'm kinda sad that X3 : Let's See How Many Characters I Can Cram Into This Movie To Appeal To The Fanboys, looks cheap in the Leno clip...

They had to reuse some of the old sets from Batman 89', because they used up most of their budget on Routh's facial makeup.

You have to remember that Superman is more iconic than Spiderman, and the most transparent feature is his face, the general public has a template of what a Superman should look like, but with Spiderman he operates in a Costume and as long as that costume is not dramatically altered the general public will be more accepting of the actor within that costume.
