New Aliens vs Predator

So what do the facehuggers actually do? Just jump on you and leech your life? Or can they actually lay an embryo in you?

In previous games when a Facehugger got you, it was game over. An instant game over. But in this game, you're supposedly able to hold it off and even get it off of you before it can get on your face.

Just reading that reminds me why i hate those things so damn much. Damn they're gross.

Facehuggers, the only things that make me still panic, even when I play a Predator.

They would probably melt through it like they did in the first Alien Movie.

I remember in the second game there was a mode where everyone started off as human except for one random player who was Alien. The Alien player had infinite respawns and every time he killed a Human player they respawned as an Alien. That led to some pretty amazing situations as the Human players would typically try and bunker down while the other team continously rushed them whittling down their defenses.

This suddenly become my most anticipated game of the year...right along side Mass Effect 2. So much so that I've decided to pick AvP up over BioShock 2.

It just looks crazy good.

I'm so not looking forward to play the Marine campaign. That is gonna be scary as hell. The power is cut, everything is dark and you've got only the light of your torch and somewhere you hear a Facehugger skitter along the ground.

I know what you mean, I can't wait to pop this in, blast the surround sound, and scream and jump like a little girl!:awesome:

Apart from some dumb AI and textures that look like splodged water-color, the first one holds up pretty well gameplay wise.
They even implemented unlimited saves so an actual human being could finish the game.
Kinda makes you wonder what happened to Rebellion.

You probably cant blame Rebellion too much. They were probably given little to work with. Be it time or money. If a dev doesnt have the time and money, chances are their product is going to suffer.

Yeah, I think this game will be Rebellion's return to greatness. I mean, I don't blame them for what happened with the P.O.S game "Rogue Warrior" since they only took over for the game when it was already more then half way complete and they just had a short amount of time to finish it.

AvP has been in development for what? Two years? I gotta say the ONLY thing that worried me originally was seeing "Sega" on the cover. Crazy how hard THAT company fell to make me second guess anything with their name on the cover... I suppose though that they really don't have much to do with the game. After taking the time to read about it, watch dev videos and making ofs I think it's safe to say that AvP will turn out to be a solid game that proves to be a labor of love for Rebellion.

I honestly was slightly tempted in the Hunter Edition mainly for the maps and Hardcover graphic novel...but in all honesty putting a replica facehugger in there killed that for me. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one that's completely grossed out by those things....like, they seriously gross me out.

I think mainly because they look slightly pornographic...and they want to eat your face.

They look pornographic? Welcome to the Alien franchise.

Haha yea, i remember the first time that i really figured out what that thing was and what it did, i vomited. Thats just damn gross. The Alien franchise, for me, is a fairly new one, i mean i dont think i saw the first film until the late 90's and to add on to that i havent seen the rest of the films from start to finish. I mean iv probably seen them all in their entirety but not in one sitting. I did see the first AvP but was so put off by that, that i havent yet seen the most recent one.

Go out and buy the Quadrilogy Box Set. Worth it.

The first Alien movie was very sexual. The Alien's head looked like a wang & the robot's "blood" looked like *** for instance.

Whatever, but you can't deny many of the other sexual tones the movie had. I'd explain them all, but there's better "experts" on this board for that subject.... Which is a little weird IMO. :oldrazz:

My anticiaption is hyping for this game. I really hope it's good.

Well the scene where Ash assaults Ripley obviously has some allusions to a rape scene. The first movie is chock full of stuff like that.

Was that just coincidence or did the creators go for that on purpose?

Also, that comic up there was pretty funny.
