New Aliens vs Predator

He got totally nerved. You decloak every time you use a weapon, except for the claws I think. Enemy attacks, projectile and melee, supposedly decloak you too. Stealth kills also decloak you, which is always great when you're stuck in a kill animation. And you can only recharge energy by draining energy off of power nodes.

Then there's stupid stuff like the spear only being throwable.

Wow that really lame.

I thought the Predator was going to be my fav to play as. Seems like its going to be annoying because you realize all the cool things he could do if he wasnt confined to this game.

He'll probably be still fun to play. I plan to be the stalking type like the first Predator. but it's pretty annoying to know that you can't do some of the awesome things that you've seen in the Movies.

It's too bad there isn't going to be a mod tool for the PC version. The fan community would take care of all that decloaking.

Yea, but i would be stuck anyway, i dont have a machine capable of running any games and im not about to spend the money to make it do so.

Ah well, im with you in that i plan to be more methodical in my gameplay rather than running through, plasma caster blazing.

Very atmospheric. I like it.

The player's a moron tho. Stood there trying to go across the window without even checking if there was a way around first.

Holy s***. That looks scary.

Were the Alien & Predator campaigns scary in the first two?

The first one was more unsettling than the second as they enemy's would randomly spawn than appear in scripted events. There was also no saves so the risk/reward was more effective (as well as incredibly annoying). In AVP2 you could just bang the q-save key constantly and know off-hand how a scripted event was going happen if you died previously, better story-telling and what not but nowhere near as atmospheric as the original.

I'm sometimes on the AvPGalaxy boards. I don't know about all of the Predator's equipment, but I read some things concerning his spear, that make me unhappy. Apparently it's now only a throwable spear that doesn't consume energy, but you can't use it to fight with in close combat.

Eeeehhhh, it's far from game breaking, AvPGalaxy is cool and all but those guys tend to be EXTREMELY picky. I always used my arm blades in close combat anyway.

My favorite gadget is the disc, so as long as I can destroy alien scum from a distance with that...I'm good.

The first time I was facehugged I literally jumped out of my seat. :yay:

As kez said the original one was quite creepy. I jumped a lot when it first came out. AvP 2 had some moments, but not near as atmospheric as the first one was.

But really the Marine campaign is the only one you would get creeped out.

All I remember about the first game is how incredibly confusing playing as an Alien was. Running on walls and ceilings sounds cool, but in practice it's just too much stuff to process. At least for me.

Still looking forward to the new game, though. I hear they included something to at least indicate which direction is down for the Aliens, so that should help.

Yeah, I think there's some up/down indicator now. There's also an indicator that tells you how visible you are and you can hide in shadows.

Good stuff. I'm sure I'll end up playing this well after everyone else has, but when I do, I'll appreciate those additions. :hehe:

We were talking about weapons the last time and I found a Thread that had all weapons that are known so far listed.

The Predator weapons/equipment are:

- Wristblades
- Plasma caster
- Combistick (only throwable)
- Smart Disc (no auto-targeting, you control it's path)
- Proximity Mines
- Medicomp/Medisticks

And that's it. I have my doubts that we'll see any more. I'd be really disappointed if we don't get the net to trap prey.

They shouldnt be tho. I mean you are an alien and a predator. As a marine you are on the bottom of the food chain.
That's what I thought. But I think they could get some scary moments out of both campaigns. Though, I think the Aliens campaign still wouldn't be scary. The only thing that'll make me jump are the Aliens.

haha yea, i guess if you are playing as a xenomorph and you turn around real quick only to see a predator decloaking, then yea that might make ya jump.

I was a wee kid when the second was released and enjoyed it a lot. The game definitely looks solid, but I already have money save up for Alan Wake and God of War 3 so I doubt I'll get this anytime soon.

I really hope this game turns out to be good.

Im looking forward to playing as the Predator. The last time i was able to control that character was in the awful Predator: Concrete Jungle, fantastic idea for a game, but horrible results.
