New Aliens vs Predator

Iv used the marine and taken out numerous Predators who thought they could just run up on me.

I have done this as well. With the grenade launcher. It's incredibly satisfying. Out of the 3 races the Predators are the species I kill the most. I don't think this is really to do with the game but the players probably being arrogant, believing they are virtually untouchable because they are a Predator. I have had many a fun moment taking out Predators with the Alien. They never look up.
I tend to be the Alien the most and have become quite good with it. The wall climbing and surface transitions took a bit of getting used to but I feel I've mastered it ready for getting the actual game. The different maps should be fun to investigate.

Yea i agree. I think the Predator is the toughest character to become skilled with, but at the same time, a Predator in the hands of a skilled player, imo, is the absolute toughest character to bring down, which i think thats the way it should be.

Yuck.

Well looks like this game is gonna be great fun for a few, but a nasty experience for the rest.

Altho, i just dont have any problems with the controls, in any way. I can control the Alien and Predator with extreme ease, it wasnt so at first but now im quite good. Maybe it just has a steep learning curve that most dont want to take the time to get accustomed to.

Its interesting that none of the flaws pointed out in the Gamespot review seemed to bother the ppl over at IGN UK.

For those of you tho, who dont care about the reviews and plan on picking up the game, here is a trailer showcasing the Species Deathmatch, which is what i think im going to primarily stick to:

It seems like from the few reviews I've read that the IGN UK is really the only people that have spent time with the whole game and get it completely. The other ones seem like they just played it a little bit and couldn't get good with each species and decided to hate the rest of the game. There's no denying the fact that the controls are tough but I thought they were fantastic once you get good with each species. I am really excited for this game and that IGN review pumped me up even more.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I can finally pick this up. I'm gonna be terrified when I finally get to see the facehugger in person:csad:

I'm going to wait for fan feedback before I make my final decision.

^To be fair, it's the second place to give it a 5.5 score.

I got my call from GameStop about this, even though I canceled my preorder and put it on GoW III. I'll be waiting for it to hit the 20 dollar bin.

I'm getting it, despite what the reviews say. I know the Multiplayer will be a blast, even if the SP shouldn't be good. But I'm looking forward what the Gametrailers review has to say. That's the only place I trust with reviews.

I'm watching Aliens right now in celebration of the game coming out tomorrow. If I have time Ima try an watch Predator as well to get a good dose from both spectrum's

Yea iv been doing the same. I watched Aliens last week then watched Predator and Predator 2 over the weekend. Ill be picking the game up tomorrow after my law exam and playing the hell outta that multiplayer which i already know for a fact is an absolute blast. Iv spent enough time with the game to be immune to any low review scores. The game plays great and just that one MP mode is a blast. I cant wait to play the other modes.

Most gamers are riddled with ADD. If they cant pick up a game and excel at it instantly, then they just write it off as bad. If a game isnt accessible to everyone and their grandmother, then it just isnt a solid title in the eyes of todays gamer. The controls in this game arent bad. Period. They are difficult to learn, but they arent bad. If they were poor, id still be struggling with the xenomorph. Now the single player gripes, like poor level design is one thing, but its as tho everyone is forgetting about the multi player. How come Modern Warfare gets a pass? That single player is beyond s**t but the mp is great and somehow that game is the greatest thing since the industry began.

Ah well, who cares. I'll see some of you guys online in AvP tomorrow.

An indy review...not "professional" but IMHO it's very well written out.

Those are the reviews that really matter IMHO, not a review from someone who gets paid to review a game...

Yea, not a bad review, better than the gameinformer at least. I mean what was Rebellion thinking, making the Predator rely on stealth, pfft.

I cant wait until tomorrow. Really excited for this one.

Whose all planning to pick this up for 360? Let me know and ill send an invite(iv played with a few of ya already  )

That review was really well written and I'll agree with him on how the alien controls. At first it is really disorientating and pretty hard but it makes you want to play with it more and get good with the alien because when you do it's amazingly satisfied. The multiplayer for this game is going to be an absolute blast and I'm excited. Only 2 more hours for me until the midnight launch here in ND. If you get a laser blast in your head or a claw through your throat that could possibly be me.

I got a text from Gamestop saying my game would be here tomorrow night which threw me off an tried calling my Gamestop to no answer. I finally went to find out that the "Hunter Edition" is shipping today to be released tomorrow which is major BS. They had plenty of regular editions but won't get mine till some time tomorrow afternoon:cmad:

They were cool enough to "lend me" a regular game so I could play until I can pick up my Hunter Edition tomorrow.

I thought the game didn't come out until next week?

I think that's in other countries. Its been billed for today as a release date for some time.

Yea I heard those collectors editions were on back order. At least u were able to get one and that's really cool that they loaned you a copy of the game to hold u over, iv never heard of them doing that.

What ya think of it so far?

I was about to start the Marine campaign then decided to wait till its night so I can turn the lights off an put on a pair of depends and hope for the best.

Online wise I've constantly find myself facing people who are experts as Aliens or Predators. Its been a little discouraging getting stopped so easily but I think I just need to get used to the new maps and new strategies.

Sometimes you'll get lucky and actually get a gamer employee at Gamestop. :D

I'll say this, anyone going into this game primarily for the single player, you are going to be extremely disappointed. Maybe the Alien and Marine campaigns are better but the Predator campaign is super underwhelming. I finished it in just over 4 hours. Most of the environments are super bland. The only cool thing about it are the instant kills on the marines, thats about it. The final boss fight is neat, but super easy and like the rest of the campaign, just misses the mark.

Now the mp modes, thats a different story. I played a quick match of survivor and then i was able to get into a full 18 man Species Team Deathmatch. That was an absolute blast. I hope they add more maps for the survivor modes, as of now there are only 2. Im gonna take a break and jump back into some of the mp, try to unlock some more skins.
