New Amsterdam

I'm sure it'll all make sense when the show premieres.

Sounds like Highlander with just the boring crap that came between the sword fights.

A review said the pilot was very good, now I don't really listen to what they have to say but i'm willing to think it was a good pilot. Tonight's the night.

So did anyone watch the first episode? I recorded it, going to watch it in a few. :hehe:

Yeah I watched it this evening. It was ok, it does have potential.

Things I didn't like--

The casting. The main character Amsterdam is good, but the characters around him just didn't connect with me or there was something just off putting about them (the older jerk cop, and also his partner).

Editing and overall layout of the story in the pilot...found the murder predictable and just not told well overall.

Things I really did like--

main actor (Amsterdam). I felt he was very good in the role and will continue to get better if the show progresses. He kind of reminded me of a mix between Hugh Jackman and Wentworth Miller (with Dennis Leary's hair :woot:)

Amsterdam's sidekick the bar owner. He looks like he will bring alot to the role and show as a whole. Good casting BTW.

Learning various historical tidbits about New York. Reminds me of the show John Doe. With that show I always enjoyed hearing the odd little facts he would spout off about.

Overall I think it's an interesting concept and am willing to give it a chance. I could however see where the secondary characters I mentioned above could hurt it's potential for pickup if they don't connect with the viewers. I see potential for recasting or cast changes down the road which really wouldn't be too unusual for a new show.

EDIT: Would give this show up in a hearbeat to have Journeyman back on the air though.

I really liked the show, and look forward to watching more. I'm just pissed that the next episode comes on the same time as 'Lost.'

Well the upside is that I heard on the news tonight that it's regular time will be Mondays at 8pm (central).

Although if you're a heroes fan that isn't much of an upside now that I think about it.

Well, by the time Heroes comes back on air, they might change the time slot again. Besides, I think heroes went on at 9 didn't it?

It was an okay show, I really liked the main actor and the premise. The case they were solving was meh, but I'll watch a few more episodes.

God I hate myself for watching a new Fox show.

Well for me Heroes is at 8pm (Central) on NBC, so it would interfere if I chose to watch this show.

And yes the only Fox show I currently watch is Prison Break as well. I had given up on the network because they had become so cancel happy. Now that honor goes to NBC I think.

Isn't this show Highlander without sword fights?

oh this show is sweet..keep this going

I'll give this show a few more episodes I suppose, but man it's on fox, and that wasn't the biggest greatest premier of all time, so I'm afraid to commit beyond that.

I know..its on fox, which scares the hell outta me:(

the idea behind the show was cool.

but it was just too dang dry and boring....

I liked the premise. I especially found funny the bit about him building the "antique" table. I was wondering what he meant when he told his bartender friend something about making him a table.

I also like how he just throws facts out there, like him and his 609 or 690 girlfriends. He just throws it out there, because he knows no one will ever believe him. I know I'd do the same thing.

The pilot was great, I really like the songs too. Anyone know what they were? I feel like i've heard them before. The show has loads of potential and I'm already a fan of the concept. Yes, the show is on FOX but I really hope they give it a chance. I look forward to the next episode tomorrow.

I watched it last night. I thought it was ok, and like everyone else Highlander was all I could think of. The whole find love thing kind of bugs me. I might stick with it though, no promises/.

it reminds me of midnight the one about the vampire.. the whole live forever thing has been done

I really liked it. It had some rough spots, but nothing that can't be ironed out through out the season.

I like the concept of the show. I also liked all the tidbits of how long he's been around like the photos of Times Square, the watch he carries and the furniture making. I hope theres more of that kind of thing because the whole cop show thing is getting tired.

But I wonder how long he's been a cop. It couldn't have been that long cuz other people will notice that he doesnt age. I hope they reveal that every so often he does different jobs. Hence why he knows alot of things.

But overall, I'm not gonna invest too much with this show cuz it is on Fox so it'll be canceled be we know it.

Going to watch the new episode now.

ah, so my suspicious about John were right. It turns out he does work other jobs and under different aliases. But Omar being his son I didnt see coming.
