It being fury doesnt fit for me. Not the way that he spoke to Foggy back in 82. That person was not someone that had been in charge of global security for 40 years, that was someone that was just trying to help, and felt out of shakes. Maybe someone who had finally gotten himself back together after being "killed" then coming back from the grave...

Brubaker said one of the villains was really silly not both of them, the silly villain is likely Leap-Frog or Matador, not both. Both of them haven't appeared in about 5 years in the DD title, so I guess both are fair game.

As for the serious villain, Mr. Fear has been in a DD title in 8 years and Purple Man hasn't been in 20 years, perhaps it is one of them.

Purple Man has appeared elsewhere recently, though.

But he hasn't appeared in DD in a while, which validates the quote "villains we haven't seen in a while" to a DD fan. I mean Mr. Fear has recently appeared in the Break Out mini and the Secret Wars mini, that still doesn't change the fact he hasn't been in a DD title in 8 years.

I think it could be Mr. Fear III (Larry Cranston). Cranston has a grudge against DD, has shown he can play the mastermind role before (framing Karen Page for murder in 1998) and is still alive, for some unexplained reason.

I think there is clue in the name, "Alton Lennox" sounds like an anagram to me.

But seriously...this interview now reinforces my views that the new DD is neither Fury or Hawkeye. Bru seemed to infer that the new DD's identity isn't very pertinent to Civil War. If it was Fury or Barton then that would probably have a very important impact on Civl War. And even though he's saying Iron Fist is one of his all time favorites, I still can't see Rand being the new DD. It just doesn't have that kind of pull. It would be like saying "Oh the new DD is insert random marvel character with acrobatic and martial arts skills." Whoever it is he'll probably have a very strong connection to DD.

Besides, whether it makes sense or not is irrelivant. Iron Fist is Daredevil.
