Bobbi Kristina Brown's Father, Bobby Brown, Issues Statement About Her Hospitalization

rs_634x1024-150201125941-634.Bobbi-Kristina-Brown-Bobby-Brown.jl.020115.jpg

Bobby Brown is speaking out for the first time about his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown's hospitalization, more than 24 hours after she was found unconscious in a bathtub at her home near Atlanta.

The 45-year-old singer and ex-husband of her mother, the late Whitney Houston, rushed to be by her side at the hospital on Saturday upon hearing the devastating news. He and several other family members, including her husband Nick Gordon, who found her face down in the filled tub and helped try to revive her, are at the medical center.

"Privacy is requested in this matter," Bobby said in a statement to E! News. "Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."

"The report that Bobbi Kristina Brown has been taken to the hospital in Atlanta, Georgia is accurate," his lawyer said. "No additional information will be forthcoming."

Her condition remains unclear. Medical officials and family members have not commented. A source told E! News that Bobbi Kristina was still unresponsive and was breathing with the help of a ventilator. According to two other sources, she is not in a medically induced coma, as reported by several outlets.

Houston had died from accidental drowning, spurred by cocaine use and a heart condition, at age 48, nearly three years ago exactly. She too was found unconscious in a bathtub, at a hotel room in Beverly Hills.

Police are still investigating Bobbi Kristina's medical incident and have not found illegal substances at her home. Her cousin, Jerod Brown, who goes by the name YF Kennedy, told E! News exclusive that she doesn't do drugs and has not been drinking alcohol.

"It's a rough time lately with the anniversary," he said. "So this is a blow to the family."

Bobby had recently given a candid interview to Lifetime after it aired a television movie about Houston, in which he talked about their turbulent relationships and their struggles with substance abuse, adding that they never allowed Bobbi Kristina to see them do drugs.

YF Kennedy told E! News that she did not watch the Lifetime movie but did catch her father's interview and was "very proud of him."

He also recently launched a #PrayForBK campaign on Twitter, saying, "Let's all show sis how much she is loved. She is human. Now's not the time for negativity."

This Bobbi Kristina incident is such a tragedy, absolutely heart wrenching.

Happy birthday to B. Brown and hopes and prayers go out to Bobbi Kristina also.

Michael Bivins confirms New Edition TV mini-series in the works

Following the Jackson 5 run, New Edition emerged and they owned the game during the 1980s. One of the members of the Boston group is Michael Bivins. While he has made his name through R&B, Michael Bivins has also run several successful businesses.

When New Edition signed with Bad Boy Records in 2004, Michael Bivins appeared on “Making The Band.” He acted as a road manager to Da Band when they were on the show. But, Michael Bivins has managed to stay out of the spotlight, in recent years.

Michael Bivins talked to Hip Hop Vibe, back in November, and he discussed his Sporty Rich movement. In a recent Instagram post, Michael Bivins talked more about Sporty Rich, revealing a clothing line was going along with the label. But, he went on to discuss a Bell Biv DeVoe reunion to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Poison and he confirmed the New Edition TV mini series.

Bobby Brown Headed Back On Tour…But Not By Choice

14285843359178.jpg

Bobby Brown is headed back on tour, allegedly against his will, after concert promoters forcefully required him to finish three dates he postponed earlier in the year when his daughter Bobbi Kristina was hospitalized after being found unconscious in a bathtub.

According to reports, Brown is scheduled to perform three shows, in Australia this May with Naughty By Nature. Sources claim Brown would rather be by his daughter’s bedside (who wouldn’t?), but due to contractual reasons, he has to makeup the performances he cancelled back in March.
There have been no new updates on Bobbi K’s condition. Her grandmother Cissy Houston, revealed during an interview on WBLS in March, there isn’t a “great deal of hope.”
“We’re praying…I cannot change a thing,” she added. “So I’m asking everyone just pray to the Lord who we know can do something. If he does a miracle, thank God. If it happens the other way, I’m alright.”
Bobbi K is currently at an Atlanta rehabilitation center where she is still in a coma.
We know “the show must go on,” but it seems rather insensitive to send a man whose daughter is on life support, back on the road. Fans should protest the show. We surely wouldn’t be able to watch him perform knowing he’s thinking about his sick daughter, who’s fighting for her life. But then again, people never seem to surprise us.

Bobby Brown tells crowd Bobbi Kristina Brown 'is awake' nearly three months after being found unresponsive

BY ZAYDA RIVERA
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

Bobby Brown said his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is "awake" nearly three months after being found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub.
"Bobbi is awake," the 46-year-old singer said in a video posted on TMZ from a Maze featuring Frankie Beverly concert at the Verizon Theatre in Dallas, TX for which he was a special guest on Saturday.
With those three simple words, the crowd went wild as the 22-year-old's condition has been touch-and-go since she was discovered in her Atlanta home on January 31 by her partner, Nick Gordon, and has been in a coma since.
However, Brown also said, "She's watching me," which could indicate that his daughter, the only child of the late Whitney Houston, isn't out of the clear yet.
"We've moved her to a place for rehabilitation," Bobbi Kristina's 81-year-old grandmother, Cissy Houston, told New York radio station WBLS 107.5 FM on March 25about the undisclosed facility. "And you know, still not a great deal of hope. (We're) still praying."
Whitney passed away under grimly similar circumstances in 2012 when she was found dead in a Hollywood bathtub of a cocaine overdose. A police investigation discovered drugs present in Bobbi Kristina's home and that pal Maxwell Lomas, who had done time in jail on drug possession charges and was released shortly before the incident, was present at the time she was found by Gordon.
Just over a week ago was the last time Brown opened up about his daughter on stage, but he didn't seem so positive.
"I dunno what the hell I am going through right now," he said on April 11 at a soul-food festival in downtown Los Angeles, "but I am giving it to God and letting him deal with it."
A rep for Brown has yet to respond to the Daily News' request for comment.

Mike Bivins Of New Edition Tells How He Learned From His Dad’s Mistakes

Happy Father’s Day to all of our ILOSM fathers and surrogate father’s who are holding it down for your children. In honor of Father’s Day we will be sharing a few stories about Dads who deserve to be acknowledged on this day. To kick things off, we’ll start with Michael Bivins of New Edition.
Mike is not only the man responsible for helping to hold N.E. together throughout all of their ups and downs; and being the driving force behind BBD; but he’s also the man who is man enough to step forward and tell other Father’s his point of view on what he says it takes to be a real daddy to their children. Bivens is speaking from experience of what he says he experienced with his own father. Mike has three little beauties that he and his wife are in the process of nurturing and grooming into becoming beautiful, well-rounded women one day, so he can speak on what you’re about to read, because he can actually back up what he’s saying, by leading by example.

Check out what he shared with Black America Web about the precise differences he says determines a father from a daddy:

When I think of Father’s Day and all the memories as a child, the part that sticks out the most, is that my father was always gone working and representing the country in the Navy and my mother, Shirley, held things down at the crib.
They never married. We lived in Orchard Park Projects in the city of Boston at 32 Bataan Court, Apartment 159. There were a lot of single families that lived in our building. The month of June was always exciting because it meant school was almost over. Father’s Day as a holiday didn’t hold that much weight or anticipation.
When my father would visit my sister Tanya and I, we always went to Kentucky Fried Chicken on American Legion Highway and I always got a take out box and I would wait until I got back to my projects to let my friends see my bag and smell my chicken, haaaa! I was funny like that.
Gerard, my pops, didn’t…

live with us. So after we chilled for a few, he would slide us some money for our pockets and then go on about his business. Still, to this day, we still chill and receive cards with money inside. We are a lot alike in our body frames, our noses and lips and our love for sports. Now I accept that I’m short because of him. It was hard at first, but I said I might be small, but I know how to ball on that basketball court. I’m the smallest in New Editionand BBD. (haaa, whateva!)

To me there is a difference between a father and daddy. When I married my wife, Teasha, I knew that now that I had my own family and three beautiful little girls, I was gonna make time to raise them and help them understand who they are and not who I wanted them to be. Savannah, 7, Shilah,6 and Starlah, 2, aka the Lil’ Supremes, call me Daddy.

This is my perspective on daddies and fathers! Your kids call you Daddy because of the time you spend with them and the love you share with words and moments in the same house. Fathers sometimes don’t live in the house and come around every now and again. When some kids introduce their dads, they say ‘That’s my father.’ My kids say ‘That’s my daddy.’
This holiday doesn’t get as much attention and acknowledgment as Mother’s Day. We know that women hold the house down and many Black family households are broken. My home has a foundation of love including praying as a family. Time always = love and it helps the character of your children to speak and walk in truth.
Happy Father’s Day to those that are in heaven and on earth! Luv is Luv, Mike Biv aka Daddy.
Michael Bivins made some excellent points. What he’s saying reminds me of that Old School saying “money can’t buy love.” That saying can apply to the concept of being a Daddy also. A family could have very little money, but be be abundantly rich in love. A Father can provide all of the child support payments on time and send birthday and Christmas gifts until he’s blue in the face, but it will be the moments when he taught his son how to confront his fear of standing up to bully at school, or the moment he held his little girl’s hand while they took a walk in the park, allowing her to just talk about anything she wanted while he keenly listened to her-indirectly teaching her what qualities she should eventually seek in a man when she becomes a young woman…those will be the type of memories and Daddy bonding moments that they’ll be grateful for the most.If you are a Father who has been in your child’s life, we salute you on this day 100%.
We also want to remind any man who hasn’t been there as much as you feel that you should have for your children, that it’s NEVER too late to step up to the plate…as long as you still have breathe in your body, it’s never too late. Don’t let the fear, or the guilt overshadow what you think is the right thing to do for your child.
Thanks for reading ILOSM family.

Bobby Brown and Alicia Etheredge Welcome a Baby Girl

bobby-brown-01-600x800.jpg

Bobby Brown and wife Alicia Etheredge welcomed a baby girl on Saturday, July 11, a source tells PEOPLE.

Etheredge was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Friday and induced on Saturday, according to Entertainment Tonight, who was the first to report the news.
The couple, who were married in 2012, are also parents to 5-year-old Cassius. This marks the sixth child for the “My Prerogative” singer.

The news of the new arrival is bittersweet as Brown’s 22-year-old daughter with the late Whitney Houston, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been in hospice care since mid-June. She was found unconscious in her bathtub in Roswell, Georgia, on Jan. 31.
Brown and members of Bobbi Kristina’s family have been by her bedside at her Atlanta-area care facility.

The 46-year-old singer has been slowly returning to work and making concert appearances. Last Saturday, on the Fourth of July, he performed in Atlanta but got emotional, occasionally hugging loved ones and saying he was “in a different zone right now.” Brown returned to Etheredge’s side in Los Angeles after the concert.

new-edition-620x377.jpg

New Edition is getting a BET biopic.
Five of the group’s members, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant, will reunite for the three-night miniseries premiering in 2016. All five will co-produce the untitled project.
New Edition founding member Bobby Brown was not mentioned in the release announcing the biopic on Monday. The group has broken up reunited several times since its inception in 1978. Brown left their tour early when the the six members rebanded last year.
Jesse Collins Entertainment is executive producing the original miniseries based on the iconic music group. This will mark BET’s first scripted music-focused TV movie.
New Edition’s longtime manager Brooke Payne will also serve as a co-producer. Abdul Williams (“Lottery Ticket”) wrote the script. A director has not yet been selected for the film.
“From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and the Jackson 5, we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here,” New Edition said in a press release.
Collins (“Real Husbands of Hollywood”) said New Edition’s “music is woven into the fabric of our culture.”
“When I brought the idea to BET years ago, I wanted to create a film that would tell the story of how New Edition emerged into one of the most important groups of its generation,” he said.

Prove It Now: BET hosting Boston casting call for New Edition mini-series

BY: MICHAEL MAROTTA

BET Networks are hosting an open casting call this weekend to fill lead roles in its upcoming mini-series on New Edition. And fittingly enough, auditions will take place in the r&b group’s hometown of Boston.
Those who look like a young Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, Michael Bivins, or Johnny Gill are invited to Boston Casting to show off their stuff this Saturday, January 16. Boston Casting is located at 129 Braintree St., Suit 107, in Allston.
And it helps if you’ve got talent, according to the flyer. Those interested in auditioning are asked to bring a current photo of themselves, and be prepared to either bust out a minute-long monologue, sing a New Edition song, or possess some kind of dance skill. It helps if you can do all three, according to the call.
Last year, it was reported that BET was producing the three-part New Edition television serieswith producer Jesse Collins (Real Husbands Of Hollywood) and input from each of the group’s members. Johnny Gill, Tresvant, DeVoe, Bivins, and Bell will serve as consultants and executive producers. It’s expected to air later this year.
“Now that we have signed the deal, New Edition’s journey will be captured in a three night miniseries to tell our life story through our very own eyes,” New Edition said in a joint statement back in August. “From our beginning in the Orchard Park Projects in Boston to Hollywood and everything in between, just like The Temptations and The Jackson Five — we are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you.”
Before you start working on your rendition of “Candy Girl”, take note of the casting call’s fine print: “If you are not local and/or do not fit the description, do not apply”.

According to Frank Holder over at Humor Mill Magazine, they’ve got the scoop on who BET has cast in the new miniseries of a film based on Boston’s New Edition!

“We hear that Bryshere Gray (best known as Hakeem of FOX’s hit series ‘Empire‘ is leading an all-star cast! Gray is set to play Michael Bivins, while Evan Ross (will portray Ronnie Devoe), Luke James (playing Johnny Gill), Elijah Kelley (playing Ricky Bell), Algee Smith (playing Ralph Tresvant), and Bobby McClain (playing Bobby Brown) all round out the cast. We also hear that Chris Robinson is directing the film for BET,” wrote Holder about the project.

Here’s what we posted about the project when it was first announced in August of last year:

BET and Jesse Collins Entertainment announced Monday that they are producing a still-untitled three-night miniseries chronicling none other than New Edition.

New Edition members Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant will serve as co-producers on the project. Bobby Brown’s name was nowhere to be found in the statement announcing the project.

“Everyone’s been waiting for the New Edition saga to be told in all its triumphs and heartbreaks, and we can’t wait to bring it to the screen,” said BET president of programming Stephen Hill in a statement.

The miniseries is scheduled to go into production in early 2016.
