New Interview With Avi Arad on SM3 and SM4.

I personally believe Tobey is actually lying about this being the last movie. People do sutff like this all the time, to get a bigger salary for the next movie, and even to increase box office sales for this one.

kind of like how jet li was starring in his final martial arts epic for that one movie, and now he's already done went and signed up to face off against Jackie Chang in a movie.

kind of like how X-Men 3 was the last? yeah right. there will be another one.
Just look at the reason given. you think Tobey is going to want them to make spider-man 4 without him?

Either way a different actor and director could make things fresh, and the same cast and crew could be good as well. i personally believe that Tobey and Raimi will be there for part 4 and beyond.

I remember an interview with someone for movie 2 (it might have been raimi) was asked about the running time and they said it would be hovering just around 2 hours. We got 2 hours and 7 minutes.

If hes saying its over 2 hours then id say its probably noticably over 2 hours, and this could add credibility to the 156 minute running time rumour.

I really like the idea of making sandman an interesting villian because he does have a sympathetic side in this film. he has a criminal life along with sad family issues. as for Harry's name I see it as just calling him harry as well because all of us fans are going to refer to him as that. I also hope that the cast returns for a 4th film for the two facts that they are great as the characters they play and I have been attached to them for 6 years so I will be very sad if they lieave.

I'd absolutely LOVE to see David Fincher take helm on Spider-Man 4. He was originally rumored to direct the first. Heck, I would've loved to see him do the death of Gwen Stacy or the black suit story, but it's too late for the latter.

"The fanboys still don't matter all too much, the internet is not the majority. Look at Snakes On A Plane, that's what you get when you make a film focusing on the internet" - Brett Rattner

Says the man who put "I'm the Juggernaut, *****!" in his unholy crapfest.

Ass.

you can't put too much blame on the director. After he signed on, he had two weeks to prepare for the shooting. 2 weeks. What did you expect?

Glad to hear that the movie will be over 2 hours, although that's as I expected, and Peter will have more wisecracks.

Well he is to blame for that line. He put it in the movie as a nod to the over-rated "I'm Juggernaut B****!" video. :down

guys, lets not forget what happened to batman. The actor left, the director left, then they jst recasted the entire cast and made a fart**** of a movie.

And they never learn. It happens with 97% of all franchises. Just get used to it and wait 20 years for a remake.

Question: How will any remaining villains be able to top what we've seen of Marko? Esp. that king-kong sized incarnation at the Construction Site? I think if Spidey could take a hit from that big boy and keep going, no one left in his rogues would really give him that much trouble.

Yeah, Tobey needs cash to keep his vegetarian lifestyle intact. Those organic arugula plants don't buy themselves.

HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!!!!

OMG. Haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Thanks for that.

That'd be some damned expensive plants methinks.

I'm getting a kick out of all the hullabaloo over Tobey just restating the same thing he's been saying since the start. Yet once a week there's some new blurb of "totally new" information that Tobey is quitting the franchise after 3. He's always said he thinks that 3 films is enough but that if the script is good and they offered him a piece of Sony he might consider it. He's a businessman so sure a lot of money would be something to consider carefully, though I don't think the money is as important to him as a lot of people assume. If the SM4 script sucked, he wouldn't do it no matter what they offered him. He has integrity.

I think he probably feels like he's dedicated enough of his life and career to the Spider-man universe. I think he'll exit stage left and I've no doubts that the Spidey machine will roll on successfully. And so will Tobey. It's been a very symbiotic and beneficial relationship between actor and character. Tobey brought a seriousness and a quality to the role and to the franchise that set the bar very high for acting caliber in superhero movies (including the successors in the franchise) In turn, the franchise put his already blossoming career on the fasttrack. Now he'll go and produce and star in the movies he wants to make but he'll always have his special place in history as everyman's hero.

I look forward to the change in the color guard and to the freedom Tobey will have to take up other projects. I eagerly look forward to other people's interpretations of the Peter Parker/Spider-man role and the character. Because, only then will some people be able to truly appreciate the depth that Tobey brought to the role.

Thank you Mr Arad - "over 2 hours" you say? Well anyone here could have said that, sigh. What is the problem with releasing the official runtime anyway? Sure if the film is still being cut then they probably don't have a definate answer but you would have thought they had a maximum they have to adhere to?

If Tobey and Sam leave I wil be most disappointed. If there is a Spider-Man 4 with a different director and actor who are going to continue where Sam and Tobey left of then I pray to God they are going to be able to live up to the 3 films.

Although, we have had the origin, the rejection of the powers and now Pete's dark side...it will be interesting to see what they can come up with for 4.

Also in terms of villians, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman - Harry - Venom - Symbiote. In terms of being able to match these guys I can only think of the Lizard, retreading very old ground I know but the Lizard would prove a most worthy adversary. Carnage...meh...I like him a lot but the film couldn't be done with a 12 rating and justify his character.

I mean there are a lot of villians to use: Shocker, Hobgoblin, Rhino, Vulture, Morbius, Mysterio etc etc. I just can't see them having as bigger impact as the previous villians. Also if they said in 4 they were having anything from 2-3 of those guys in the same film I don't think I would be anywhere near as excited as when they announced Venom was in 3.

Sure the Lizard and Mysterio and possibly Shocker would be pretty damn cool but not as cool as Venom, Monster Sandman and Harry.

I don't know, it is futile to predict but it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

The idea for each movie is to have the villain have some sort of connection with Pete. We know Doctor Connors has had that with him in SM2 and possibly SM3. [BLACKOUT]You look at Sandman being the killer of Uncle Ben.[/BLACKOUT] If they can match that with these other villians, then the movies shouldn't be that bad.

^ the problem is why does every person in connection to Parker have to become a supervillain. I want Kraven.

Well if they are gonna have Kraven and his "Last Hunt", the perfect time would be with the lizard. Peter has that connection with Dr. Connors and if Kraven goes after Lizard that makes it more personal.

Thats what I want for sm4. Kraven and the lizard. However, I want Kraven to be initially interested in killing spidey, trying to prove that he's worthy of the, "greatest hunter in the world" status. So, spidey has to fend off this ass and then you've got the lizard, which we all know about. I also want to see kraven bring with him some elephants, lions and bears to use against spidey, that would definately be sick.

Yeah okay that would prove interesting. Kraven trying to kill the Lizard, while Spidey is protecting him yet also defending himself from him.

If done right that would prove most enjoyable.

Exactly. Tobey is ebbing into the mid 30's point. He's done his part. It's time to move on.

Agreed! Get someone younger and someone who can actually emote varied emotions and actually opens their mouthes when they speak. Tmags looks like he has stiff lips.

Totally different situation. Jet Li stated that Invincible was his last MARTIAL ARTS EPIC. Meaning that the movies he's going to make after said "Epic" will not be based on great stories set in Martial Arts history. He's being doing things like that all his life, now he wishes to do more action based MA movies.

now I completley understand Tobey has a daughter now but that doesn't mean it can stop him from being in a 4th film. plenty of other actors have done it so why not tobey? I just don't exactly see anybody else playing spider-man besides Tobey. I have seen other actors play roles for a while such as sean connery in the james bond films. he's starred in more than 4.
