Could the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles be returning to the big screen in a new live action film? The Playmates Toys website has the following statement:
“Following the success of the ‘TMNT’ theatrical release in 2007, Mirage licensing and Imagi studios have begun work on a new live-action TMNT film for 2010. It’s the turtles like you’ve never seen them before! Shellalicious!”

As much as I enjoyed the TMNT animated feature, I was left longing for the old live action films, as bad as they might have been (Remember the Ninja rap?). I really wish that with the expected success of The Dark Knight, that Imagi would consider making a darker TMNT, something closer to Kevin Eastman/Peter Laird’s original vision. But I doubt they will go in that direction. Also, Imagi is a computer animation studio, which makes me wonder if the live-action aspect is a typo or maybe that the turtles will be cg in a live action world.

Cool i was wondering if they would make a live action movie. I heard a while back that hallmark channel was going to make a live action mini series but i heard it would coast them a lots of money.

I loved all 3 live action movies as a kid. Hell, I'll pop one in the dvd player occasionally. I would watch a new one, why not?

They;re gonna need a massive bankroll. Four CGI characters at the same time for about an hour and a half? Granted, if you use Shredder and the Foot and no other crazy creatures, the Turtles would be the only CG in the movie, but still, that would be costly.

Id like to see them as real life really, special make up effects have come a long way since the long turtle films, Just look at Perlman as Hellboy, they could really pull something spectacular off if they wanted to.

Looks like they might have been testing the water with the animation as well hu?

I don't think they look human enough for someone to pull off the makeup job to be honest. They're just anthropormorphic.

I liked the animated movie alot, id rather have a sequel to that.

It's NOT live-action. As the story states, "Imagi is a computer animation studio". Like Pixar.

Well, Pixar is supposedly making that live action John Carter thing, so could they not just be doing the CG work for the turtles? Eh, I don't know.

It would be so cool if they did another live action film when i heard about TMNT happening i was hoping it would be live action again. But then i read articles saying no studios wanted to bank on a live action film cause it would cost alot with costumes/makeup and the 3rd live action film was a total flop. But its likely going to be another animated film. Hopefully a sequel to TMNT i thought it was a decent turtles film. But if they were to go live action i would love to see humans all real and then they have people in blue/green screen suits playing the turtles and then get digitally turn them into photorealistic looking creatures like in the narina films, or lotrs.

I hope it's darker and that the turtles actually USE their weapons this time. As in STAB or CUT at least!

It'd have to be PG-13 if they really want to live up to it all.

They'd definitely be using the people that worked on Hellboy II if they did it.

i thought the aniamted movie was a sucess and im very suprised to hear this. i hope it gets a good budget.

Maybe GDT should be involved he's great with monsters and he did a great job with helboys look... maybe they can do the same type of thing

I'm always down for new Turtles. Live or toon.

TMNT was okay, I liked how they referenced the first 3, I didn't like the films title (at all)
and thought the movie could use a little shreddar. But believve it or not, I would watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 over TMNT, so imagine how much I love the first two.

It's true.
For nostalgia, not because its a superior film. far from the case.

If they make a live action version they should go all the way and make it a dark gritty taxi driver meets batman kind of film. Yeah it sounds too pretentious and sbsurd for a turtles movie well... not. If the go with the tone of the comics they could come up with a really compeling story ad even make a good film not just a fun turtles adventure, focus on them as outcasts (yes we have this already with HB but there's different ways to approach it its all in the writting and execution of the script not weird monsters) make it a dark serious story with Shredder as the main villain .

Have him controling the mob and redesign the footclan ninjas, have the turtles actualy be a bit scary to the public have them be urban legends.

have them hunted by the police and the FBI. The suits can be made the same wa a lot of the creatures from HB 2 were made with amazing animatronics I can imagine their faces having great expresion the skin texture looking completely real pores, sweat and all. Hve the suits be leaner and more ripped

And use parkour guys instead if cgi to do the rooftop acrobatics and major stunts add all of that and a director that takes the material seriously and we could have a great TMNT movie.

Don't like that statement. Watching the Turtles do the Ninja Rap was awesome! :cmad:

I like all this except I forgot one thing... comedy

YES! And don't make them as huge and bulky/fat-looking as in the first live action movies. They looked so slow (no pun intended to them being turtles)
