What would should be done with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Franchise Now?

totally should be a period piece - bite into that nostalgia.

It can stand out too, plus, parents and adults will wan an see it i'm sure.

also, 80's movies are somewhat having a revival - i mean, look at IT, the vintage look rocked. Stranger things - no different.

Tap into the goonies, gremlins, karate kid and big trouble in little china vibe and you have a winner (which is what i feel Spiderman HC did in a way).

I like the 80s period piece idea. Also wouldn't mind if they started out in black and white (Sin City anyone?) with all red masks. Perhaps by the end of the movie they get their colored ones.

Seems like a live action reboot is getting momentum with Colin Jost and his writing partner (and brother) Casey Jost joining as screenwriters back in August which could be promising.

Colin Jost to Write 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Movie - Variety

I prefer live action to another animated movie to be honest. In my opinion, Turtles animation should be for an ongoing series on Nickelodeon or Paramount+, and the film adaptations should be live action.

Now, as much as I’d love to see men in prosthetic green turtle suits like the original film, it’ll realistically have to be CGI nowadays. And that’s okay; I think it can still work but I’d rather the creatives lean more youthful in their design choice then whatever the Bay films were going for. They are teenage mutant ninja turtles after all. And don’t go hyper realistic, stick to classic. Think of Sonic in film.

And maybe have it be set in 1984, the year the Turtles comics were created. Sequels can be set throughout the 80s. I’d just like to see a grimy crime-ridden New York like the original movie that really needs the Turtles’ help. But present day can also works, cowabunga is timeless.

Maybe use this for inspiration. I think it’s from the 2017 series? They don’t need to be these huge monstrosities like they were in the Bay film.

Glad we’re getting another live action movie, animated stuff I rarely bother with.

Wasn't the Jost news announced a while ago?

Anyway, So we're getting
1) A Rise of the Ninja Turtles movie on Netflix (not Paramount+)
2) The Rogen/Goldberg produced animated movie coming next year
3) The live action one the Josts are working on

If I had to put money down the 3rd one isn't happening.

Yeah about 6 months ago

I want them to tackle the last ronin in the universe of the 1990 movie. Use similar costumes with a hint of cgi to smooth out creases, actors faces in their mouths etc... it doesn't have to be a huge budget either, it can be r rated and a love letter to the mature audience that grew up with it.

That could work really well, in my opinion. 50 million budget - streaming alone would pay it off.

Hopefully we get a trailer for the new animated movie soon.
