Yes Hunter...You the man...

Doesn't Sam always make that face in each of his movies...

NICE Was wondering how this was going to look.

Geez, does the Octopus have an outfit for every single thing he does?

I have to give a shot. I'll wear my doctor's outfit.

I have to intimidate The Spirit. I will wear my Nazi Uniform.

I want to use a sword to fight. I must wear my samurai outfit.

I'm going to get into a street fight. I'll wear my pimp clothes.

I'm in my 1st released picture. I will wear my black suit.

The Spirit should get the drop on the guy easy because it seems he's just gonna be in the dressing room 90% of the time.

...He's a master of disguise...No joke!

Actually, it IS a joke. :cwink:

In the comic, he was never a "Master of Disguise"... the gimmick was that we simply never saw his face.

In the film, the gimmick is that he is a "Master of Disguise"... and the only constant is that we ALWAYS see his face.

And... to further what is obviously meant to be a joke... he absolutely sucks at being a "Master of Disguise". He operates in an urban setting... and yet he is the most conspicuous idiot on the street... or in the alley or wherever. It's not really 'hiding' when you're dressed like a Samurai in urban America. It would like if a real life bank thief happened to be a Trekkie.

He's more of an eccentric nut who thinks he's a master of disguise, while all of his associates probably look at him like he's a clown.

And, I'm not insulting the film... it really seems like he's written this way on purpose.

Oh... and the new pics rock. I love the chromatic feel in the lighting.

I really hope that when Dolan takes that hat off, he has Eisner's "duck tail" hair. Even if it's one little shot, just for the faithful.

EDIT: I just realized it's even snowing in the Octopus pic. What the...? Miller was either so set on having inclement weather in every shot as an homage to Eisnerschpritz that it is bordering parody...

... or Octopus is doing surgery in his backyard.

You know I see these pictures and I think "Dick Tracy" or the Will Eisner comics but then when I hear about Samuel L. Jackson turning the Octopus into a Looney Tunes-cartoon-character and see the Comic-Con footage of him and Spirit hitting each other with toilet seats, wrenches, etc. I lose respect for the movie.

Oh well...Christmas is almost here. We'll see if this is a bomb or a nostalgic winner.

I HATE the way his mask looks. It's like they didn't even try to make it not look cheap. Hell, it barely looks like a mask. It looks like he just took a black magic marker and drew circles around his eyes.

I hate the way everything looks. And I've never read a Spirit comicbook in my life so this has nothing to do with it being unfaithful, I just think it out and out looks like an awful movie.

Maybe I'll be proven wrong after I see it on DVD but right now I say it looks like a... what do the kids call it? EPIC FAIL.

I'm trying (desperately) to be somewhat positive about aspects of this film... even in spite of its complete lack of recognizability as an "Eisner" film.

You make it difficult. :hehe:

It will be visually wonderful. But I think we can´t be able to say the same thing about the story.

I think it will be the same thing of 300. It was beautiful, the images and those details, but he changed some things for worse: The monsters from an old Doom game, the overused slo-mo (did you think that the sex scene with Leonidas and his wife would have a running time of 5 seconds if they skip the slow motion? I was embarrased when I saw in the cinema that scene, I saw the wife´s breasts bounce in slow motion for 30 hours!) . And I own 300 on DVD, but if they based their work on the FM novel, it would be better...

Anyway, I think it will be a funny popcorn movie about rude cops from the 40´s based on "someone´s" comic.

PS: Nice pics.

See, I disagree. Granted, I know that a mask like the one drawn above wouldn't really conceal anyone's identity, but that's not really the point. It still looks fairly cool, despite its simplicity. And it looks like a mask. The one in the movie looks more like warpaint or something.

The guy wearing the mask doesn't sell it at all. He looks silly.
