QUESTION: What is the point of the green-tinted poster?

I love both posters, but I am annoyed by unfair and philistine remarks about the second poster. So in it's defense...

A green atmosphere generally has an unhealthy, poisonous look to it. I think it is extremely appropriate given the conflicts (revenge being a poison) in the third movie. The whole theme of the movie is represented in the second poster -- more than the first poster, even.

Dude, just think of what many artists do to make a background look more nightmarish. Think of the color scheme for backgrounds in Mordor, at the witch's castle in Sleeping beauty. Heck, just look at any good horror or apocalyptic type movie. When the aliens invade, the sky doesn't stay baby blue or maintain a happy golden tint. It turns a volatile green, same color as the sky during a bad thunderstorm or tornado.

Doesn't the second poster look more... sinister? I think it does. It catches my eye and impacts me more even more than the first one (which is also amazing, but has a cleaner, less emotional feel). The first poster's sky is hazy, while the second one is definitely more SURREAL.

Both posters use the same composition. The first is clean and pretty to look at. The second (greenish one) is brooding, venomous, and striking. Both are outstanding. End of story.:word:

i think the second one is too dark and that it covers up too much detail - if it were shadowy i would say that this is fine, but to me it looks the way something would if your printed it out too darkand were low on Cyan and Magenta ink. obviously you have your own opinion, but i have a feeling we'll find out at some point why this is yellow and i have another hunch that it is not meant to be a yellow poster on its own like this....

Problem tho is it's too dark of green, the hues are way off.

Whys it green?

that answer is unclear
my guess is that it has something to do with a special kind of poster...possibly another lenticular poster than changes as you walk past it...spidey would change from his regular red/blue suit into the black suit...not entirely sure why it would be yellow/green...maybe it's to keep people from working with the image...haha i don't know...but it's not to my liking...call me philistine if you will...but i know what i like, and it ain't that
my other guesses included: it could be venom's view of the world, or gobby-vision through his visor....this way what we are seeing is what is entirely reflectind in the goblin mask's eye! :)

I guess then you've seen the posters IRL? (That's how you know how the hue should be.)

I played around with the second poster in photoshop... there's nothing wrong with the hues... that is the green color. It's not even the darkness. It's the overall faded look that prevents the picture from "popping." I think this looks a little better (at least on my monitor)

Oh well. Yes, it does seem that we have different opinions. The images probably even show up different on our monitors. To me, being able to see the most amount of detail doesn't necessarily make a successful poster. Obscurity can be just as powerful, if not more so. It's about composition and impact. What is it that excites you when you see a movie poster? The number of hexagons you can count on Spidey's outfit? A floodlit pose? A striking mood? I guess it all depends on the viewer.

Good idea. That does shown like the most logical explaination.

Actually I go by sight, not by what the putor says is right. I use photo Suite old version.
