New to PS3 help

Ah, I see you already have your PS3. Still the headset advice stands. As for settings I'm clueless on that front myself.

hell yea man, saw the white box of the MGS bundle and just couldnt pass it up. A buddy of mine told me that if you hold the power button for like 8-10 sec that it would reset everything and then you can transfer it to another TV. I think thats a really dumb thing to have to do, but o well, i dont think ill be moving the system from tv to tv that much.

I have a few questions guys:

1) Does the 40 or 80 GB come with component/HDMI cables?

2) Can I download songs onto the PS3 from my iPod/MP3 or while connected to the internet on the PS3?

3) Is there a karaoke program/download I could use on the PS3? (Yeah I know this one's a little weird).

Just getting some last minute knowledge before I decide on a 40GB or 80 GB.

1). No, neither
2). Yes, at least I think so
3). Uhhh??

I also have another Q tho, um is the PS3 compatible with any Bluetooth mic?

Theres Singstar. Im not sure if its been released in the US yet though.

pretty much

So I have to buy a separate component/HDMI cable?

I already have one for my DVD player, can I just use that or do I have to buy the official one from Sony?

2) Can I download songs onto the PS3 from my iPod/MP3 or while connected to the internet on the PS3?

You can listen to them whilst on the internet, but if you want to copy the songs across, you have to close the browser.

I'm tryin my hardest to get my hands on a 60GB. Sony's really frustrating the hell out of me with the need for lots of HD space in order to play a lot of games AND this ******ed backwards compatibility screw-up. And I couldn't care less about Blu-Ray; I'm willing to bet PS3s would be tons cheaper if they didn't center around this Blu-Ray tech.

I used to be the biggest Sony ****e, until the 360 vs PS3 war. What happened? They under new management or something? :(

lol...good luck on that. The 60gbs are pretty hard to find as they've been discontinued for nearly a year now. I'd just give up on that and go for the 80gb MGS4 back. Aside from 20 extra gb of space, the only difference is that its backwards compatible with 80% of the PS2 games as opposed to nearly all for the 60gb.

The only compatibility I'd need are for:

Marvel vs Capcom 2
All the PS2 Final Fantasy games
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2

If the 80GB can give me that, I'll be sold

Yea, i know what ya mean. I was having a hard time trying to figure out what PS3 i wanted. I mean i dont care too much about backwards compat, but id like to at least have it. But i didnt want to spend 500 bux on an 80G to get the backwards compat as i can only see myself owning 2 PS3 games(MGS4 and Uncharted). I found out that i had a Target coupon that would save me an ass of money so i said what the hell and bought the MGS4 bundle, got it for around like 470 bux(wich i think is a f'ing STEAL for an 80g PS3 and MGS4). I was like you before the start of this generation of consoles. I was all about the PS2 until like right there at the end, i got an Xbox and never looked back. Got the 360 on launch, have loved it and never really cared about the PS3, until this summer. Its funny tho, iv been a staunch supporter for the 360, which i dont see that changing, but so far 2 of my favorite games of this gen are on a system i didnt see myself owning until the start of this summer, which are Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted.

The only reason I caved and decided to get a PS3 is for "Infamous". I need that game lol. I can always wait and hope there's either a price drop or some big change before it comes out next spring

If I do get the MGS4 bundle, I'll just sell MGS4 and get ~$50 back. I don't like those games at all lol.

I recently got a 60g system (for the backward compatibility) off of Ebay for $331.00 from Alliance International Electronics. I gotta say I was terrified about sending off that kind of money but they are a power-seller with a super high feedback rating. I got the system about a week later and it's tip-top. I've a friend who works at Gamestop that told me the price was a steal. They had several for sale and probably still do...I would definately recommend them.

I did get ripped off by a seller for GTA 4. Like a dummy I bid and won without checking his feedback rating (zero percent). After I payed through Paypal he removed the listing and I've not heard from him since. I would stick to power-sellers with high feedback.

yea there are some good deals out there, ya just gotta know where to look. I ended up getting the 80 gig Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 for right under 480, im still stoked that i got that deal.

Damn, i dont know who would nee that much more space. Iv had my 20 gig 360 since launch and still have 11 gigs left over, altho i dont download many videos or arcade titles and the like.

Remember you have to load games onto the PS3. It's not like the 360 at all ;)
