New Writer!

zodiac was terribly boring... are we gonna see Wolverine go around and start doing detective work?

As a matter of fact...yes we are.

He doesn't know who he is or whether he came from. He also has to track down Sabretooth at some point.

Wolverine = Detective

:D

Vanderbilt, who just polished the script, is now writing Spider-Man 4. Posting it here just because of what is says about him.

Col hands Vanderbilt pen for 'Spidey 4'

James Vanderbilt has been brought on board to pen the screenplay for "Spider-Man 4" for Columbia.

Laura Ziskin is returning as producer of the billion-dollar franchise, though no deals have been made to bring back series director Sam Raimi or stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.

Plot points are being closely guarded by the studio, though the intent is to scale back the story to include only two villains instead of repeating the "Spider-Man 3" model. The third installment, which grossed $336.5 million domestically this year, saw Spidey battle a busy triumvirate of evildoers in the forms of Venom, Sandman and Goblin and was widely reckoned as overly cumbersome with one too many plot lines.

Several writers were being considered for the fourth installment, and Vanderbilt, who wrote the thoughtful if dark "Zodiac," apparently was chosen by Sony brass for his character-driven approach to the story rather than a focus on special effects.

David Koepp, who worked on the first two installments, returned to write a previous draft of "Spider-Man 4."

Vanderbilt, repped by Endeavor and Fuse, quickly has been scaling his way to the upper echelon of screenwriters. He is working on a project based on another Marvel character, Gavin Hood's "Wolverine," for 20th Century Fox.

^^Yes it is narrows. So they brought more writers brought on board for polishing....the script must be shining now.:p

David Benioff wrote the original screenplay then David Ayer, Skip Woods, James Vanderbilt and Scott Silver did rewrites. That's a lot of writers in 3 years time! I'm surprised the Gavin Hood didn't do the rewrites himself. Maybe it's because he's too busy promoting Rendition and pre-production on Wolverine?

Speaking of Benioff here's a pic of him at a dinner for his new film The Kite Runner on October 29. Look like anyone familar?

THE KITE RUNNER comes out in the US on Dec. 14 (after being delayed from Nov. 2 since they have to get the child stars out of Afghanistan because of threats and they wanted to wait until the school year ended there). I read the book and it's fabulous, and there's Oscar buzz surrounding this movie.

The Zodiac writer being on board is good news.

With the creative team they're bringing on (Gavin Hood and James Vanderbilt), it gives me hope that FOX is not trying to half-ass Wolverine like they did with X-Men 3.:yay:

Zodiac was a truly terrific film. Now whether or not the quality was based solely on David Fincher's artful direction or Vanderbilt's script, remains to be seen. However since he was the sole writer credited, some of the kudos should be attributed to him...right? ;)

Never seen a picture of Benioff...he's quite a handsome guy!

Just checking IMDB and didn't know his dad Stephen Friedman (Benioff's real last name) was chairman of Goldman Sachs and is the current Chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board, and former Director of the National Economic Council appointed by President Bush.

He's also married to Amanda Peet, who was in SYRIANA and the TV show STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP last year.

Marc Forster is directing so that's not very surprising.

Not to mention he also landed the highly coveted Spider-Man 4 writing gig.
