Gavin Hood to direct Wolverine

Checked out Hood's movie Tsosti a couple weeks ago. This is damn good movie. It's intense, gritty, violent and emotional. At the center is this bad guy you really end up caring for by the end.I'd recommend everyone here to it check out.

Even though it's won an Oscar i was actually surprised that my local rental had it.

It looks good. It may give people a look at Gavin's style etc
Thanks this does look good.Wouldn't it be something if he could get Streep to star in Wolverine too?:wow:
Ratner may have an A list status is the biz, but his talents are C list at best.
I was actually referring to the A-list talent we had in terms of cast.:cwink:

I just saw it recently too (it's actually on cable a lot here lately!) and it's excellent. I couldn't believe I was actually sad for the guy by the end.

Rendition looks intense as well, I can't wait to check that out.

Hopefully the studio recognizes that as well and won't interfere too much in the creative process of Wolverine like they did on X3.

So..Gavin Hood is in Toronto for the Film Festival. And there was a press conference to promote Rendition....

I hope so too. Since it looks like they're filming in Australia, it looks like Hugh has plenty of say on the project as well.

Hood aiming for a "grand and operatic" Wolverine flick

If director Gavin Hood gets his way, expect the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine to differ dramatically in tone from 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand.

Speaking last week to Secret's Out guest host Aisha Tyler, Hood described his Wolverine as "a person who's really suffering from a great deal of existential angst, who wants to lash out and yet hates himself for doing so...his battle is within his own nature."

Referencing ancient Greek lore, the Rendition director laid out his ambitious plan for the highly anticipated X-Men prequel, in which Hugh Jackman will reprise his trademark role. "These characters are modern mythological characters that represent human emotion in a grand and somewhat operatic way," Hood said of the inhabitants of Wolverine's comic book universe. "And if we can access that and combine it with some good action and some great cinematography and music and sound and so on, then we could have an exciting, emotional movie."

"Exciting and emotional" sounds pretty good, especially when contrasted with Brett Ratner's controversial "shallow and bombastic" approach toward X-Men 3.

Sounds good. Hood talks a good game. Hopefully, he follows through with it. It could be one of the better X-Men related movies yet.
