New York Soon to Trail Florida in Population

ALBANY — New York, whose status as the most populous state has long been ceded, will soon fall behind Florida into fourth place, a long-anticipated drop that is rife with symbolism and that could carry potentially serious economic consequences in coming years.

When the Census Bureau releases its latest population estimates on Monday, demographers expect that Florida and New York will be narrowly separated — perhaps by as little as a few thousand people — and that if Florida does not pass New York this time, it almost certainly will do so in 2014.

Great, Florida is reproducing :o

And popping out 65 year old babies.

Honestly I think it's more a case more immigrants go to Florida then NY. I personally think they should send all new immigrants to Wyoming

It'll be interesting to see how this effects the electoral college.

Mofos love the sunshine state, we got those beaches and chicas in bikinis!

Is it true that everyone in New York is rude?

I mean this sincerely... We are not rude. We just got **** to do. :woot: There is a pulse and speed to city life. If you are a tourist we will stop and give you directions (I always do.) But it will be curt and short with minimal pleasantries. This is my view anyway.

All the New Yorkers are moving to Florida.

All the old people came down to retire, they usually live in big communities for old people. They aren't usually out and about past sun down. The blue hairs driving in the daytime is what you gotta watch out for. Most of the urban populated areas though are very youthful

Reverse vampires?

Bingo, that's how my entire family got here. They were European immigrants that came to NY, then the kids who grew up got sick of the cold and the unions, so moved down to Florida, and then had their kids and raised them there, and now, we just don't leave.

New Yorkers/Jersey/PA residents have been moving to Florida for decades. No one from Florida was actually born in FL. You learn that very fast.

Does that mean people are having less kids up north and the old just keep moving to FL?

Same thing is happening to Texas, I have no friends in Dallas that are actually from Texas, they are all from the Northeast. Houston, it's a little different story, but changing fast.

New York will get its spot back when Miami drops into the ocean in a few years.

You won't be around....
