Nintendo working on new console

Honestly the only retailer that I've seen fully embrace the PSP Go is FYE.

I haven't seen a lot of PSP Gos at GameStop, Wal-Mart, Target, and no PSP Go download vouchers there either. They're fully stocked on PSP-3000s and physical PSP games.

A lot of European retailers have boycotted the PSP Go for it's absurdly high price and lack of UMD drive cited as being reasons.

It will have a UMD drive, at least, that´s what i´ve read, that Sony said that the Go! was an experiment and the next portable will have a UMD once again.

Link :awesome:

retailers can and do sell PSP games for the Go. That hasnt changed anything
And if you are talking about vouchers or something...is not the same thing, is it?
I believe that 95% of the people that bought the Go, buy games online, which makes sense, that was the reason why they bought the console in the first place.
That was the reason for retailers boycotting the portable.

yes vouchers. Thats the only way they can

Why go out of your home to buy a voucher to download something at home when you can just do the entire process at home?

Why waste the gasoline of going out when you don't have to?

Why even bother with the process of buying and redeeming a voucher when you can just skip the entire process and just simply get the game? Did I mention that why leave the house when you don't have to?

Retailers hate the PSP Go for that reason. Nobody buys vouchers. Now while I have seen a few PSP Gos at Wal-Mart and Target and whatnot, I have never seen a voucher for a PSP Go game outside of FYE.

the same exact thing can be said about all models of the PSP as all games are available for download. Its not limited to the Go. Everybody that owns a PSP has the option of bypassing retailers and downloading any game they want straight from their home.

But the games that are download only are incredibly small and just aren't worth the hassle of putting it on retail shelves. The same can be said with the PS3 and 360. There is just no need for games like Battlefield 1943, Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty, and Halo 3: ODST to be on retailer shelves.

But with the PSP, EVERY game is downloadable.

Oh snap!

Not surprised. I've not played it but my friend who is a HUGE Halo fan loathes it.

Same here. My friends who own it say that it was just way too short.

I never said anything about download only games. Every new PSP game is downloadable and most older ones. That ranges from the small PSP minis to the larger GTA titles. FYI there have been downloadable full retail games. Patapon 2 comes to mind. I have a PSP-2000, if I want any of that, I dont have to go to the store and waste my gas and time to get it, which is your argument against that for the Go. Thats a benefit shared across all versions of the platform and not exclusive to the Go

Downloadable games rarely ever go on sale. If they do, it's not much. Plus, if you end up not liking the game, too bad. You're stuck with it.

The day video games become downloadable only is the day I quit gaming.

Sony does weekly sales on the PSN titles. Not simply crappy titles but good ones too

Except I can also buy most PSP games for my regular PSP. Big difference.

Some games should be downloadable only. But most games...absolutely not.

There are sales on Steam all the time.

In addition to David Jaffe dropping more hints about his next game, former 1upper and now Director of Business Development at Ignition Shane Bettenhausen spoke a bit on 4 Guys 1UP about what he expects to be the big battle at E3: new handhelds from Sony and Nintendo.
"I think the big story of E3 is DS 2 and PSP 2," he stated. "I'm really excited to see that."

And though he didn't offer any details about what he knows about the platforms just yet, he did say that "the two products will be very competitive, which is something that no one experienced [before]." Meaning, in terms of their feature sets -- such as whether they'll have dual screens, touch control, etc. -- they will be very similar. "DS and PSP both existed in completely different sides sides [of the spectrum]," he said. "If those two put out similar products at the same time, it really evens the playing field."

However, with similar platforms coming it seems the importance of exclusive content will become even stronger. "I think we're going to see a lot of fights for exclusive third party games," he said. "I don't think you're going to see the big franchises across both platforms."

Sounds like quite the battle, and sounds like this year's E3 will be certainly be an exciting one.

Well.....if it turns out to be true.....:woot:, i´m right once again, the next generation starts this year, in portables.

And i was also expecting for the DS 2 to be the most powerful console made by Nintendo, with Nvidia being involved and all.
And it would be stupid for Sony not bring the PSP to the touch screen generation, so, i´m not surprissed for them to be similar, expect the all dual-screen in the PSP 2.

And, if the DS2 will be the most powerful portable made by Nintendo, imagine how the Wii 2 will turn out, because, mark my words, the Wii 2 will be the most powerful console made by Nintendo, on the same level as the PS4 and Xbox 3.

But the question remains, if Nintendo will only announce the DS2 at E3 (which makes sense), what will they announce on the 24th, at the Nintendo Media Summit? Besides games, that is...

doesnt that go without saying? Every company always puts out consoles more powerful than the last. What purpose would it serve to release a new console weaker than its predecessor? Of course the next consoles after the DS and Wii will be Nintendo's most powerful yet. Trend is to move forward, not backwards

In the 6th gen, Nintendo had the strongest console, yet Sony managed to sell the best. Last gen, of the big 3, Sony had the weakest console and it ended up doing the best. This gen, Nintendo went and released the weakest console and has sold tons more than its 2 competitors. Releasing a weaker console has allowed them to minimize developmentla cost, lower the price and sell their system at a gain right from the beginning. Its a different strategy than what they took with their last 2 consoles and its worked out largely in their favor. I can see them adopting the same strategy with the Wii predecesor. I dont necesarily see it being as powerful as what Sony and MS have to offer. Nintendo is in its own category and I dont think they are trying to directly compete with the other 2. They know they cant offer what those can and it hasnt made a strong attempt to do so. Wii sales are always at the top of the charts. Nintendo's first party games are always there as well. Its a system thats making them money and I dont see them messing with that too much

Well, the Nintendo World Summit was a confirmation that a new console will be coming out at the end of the year.
There is no other reason for Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M to be released in the summer and not christmas, if not give room to........something.
That, or Zelda Wii will be see the light of day this year, which i don´t think is a real reason to not release Mario and Samus in the fall.
