It's a heck of a racket. Only FIFA does it better.

The amount of cash to host the Olympics is way to much. They need to find ways to reduce the cost of hosting Olympics else nobody will want to host them. Personally I think what they should do is find 2-3 cities that are relatively close(say like 150-200 miles) and have a joint venture of all 3 cities hosting it.

Hosting any sporting event is just for bragging rights. Just put a bunch of names in a hat and whoever gets it, gets it.

I can understand that, seems to me like they really need to get some forward thinking engineers and architects who have the foresight to build not only what the Olympics needs but something that can be turned into something that is actually useful for the host country once it's gone. So many places have spent billions for this just to turn around and see it wasted after a few short weeks. Making the structures useful after the games is a win win for everyone

The Winter Olympics are a waste of time. Only a limited number of mostly wealthy countries with the correct climate can actually produce athletes for half the events.
