The Dark Knight Nolan apparently unhappy Homes didn't return...

Nolan, about Maggie:
"She's able to create a character who's got great warmth, great attractiveness, but is still a real person."

They're both awful.

Maggie appears to be a skank in DK.

Have you seen the movie? You can't say Maggie IS Rachel Dawes - especially when she is a character just made for the movie. There isn't a role you "become".

Well given the credintials and personality of a character presented in a film, especially a character taken on by multiple talent, it's safe to say that one can easily supercede the other. For example, despite his passing after "Chamber of Secrets," Richard Harris was, in my opinion, a better Dumbledore than Michael Gambon.

And of course when it comes to this subject, opinion is the only thing you have...

THAT said, along with the clips that have been revealed (which is a testament to Maggie that she can convince me in CLIPS prior to the film) Maggie will give a far more dimensional performance to the character of Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes did ... Hence why Maggie, to date, IS Rachel Dawes...excuse me for not adding "IMO" to the end of it, since I felt the majority of us would take Maggie over Katie.

And whether Katie stupidly allowed her Scientologist midget of a husband to convince her NOT to do it ... or it was really because she wanted to do "Mad Money" instead (I have a feeling Nolan and Co. would've worked with her pregnancy had that been the issue) Katie is, when all is said and done, a moron for conciously passing on what was not only the ONLY bankable "FRANCHISE" she was involved in...but a damn popular/financially certain one at that.

Don't be such a prick. This post is so meaningless.

All I did was give an opinion ... I think the thing that's MORE meaningless is you being incredibly rude and attacking me for doing nothing more than having a voice on an online forum.

I would have liked to have Holmes back...I didn't find her as um, offensive as some people here did. I actually thought she did a very good job (in most scenes anyway) considering all the talent involved. Plus cast continuity is always a good thing, something I *thought* this franchise would be able to keep. Sadly no, but it's OK.

Nolan's a gentleman in the old fashioned sense. There's no way he would have directly spoken badly of Holmes even if he did have issues with her.

Exactly. I also loved what Bale said in an interview-- "Katie did a good job, Maggie did a fantastic job."

BTW-- her last name is spelled Holmes. ;)

Katie did a solid job as Dawes. I'm sure Maggie did as well.

To be honest, in ranking the importance of the performers in the movie, the role of Rachel Dawes is last on the list.

I would have preferred consistency with the female lead role between the two films, but what are you gonna do?

He's talking about Katie, homes. That's right, ese.

Maggie fits Nolans realism vision better because unlike Katie, shes not hot.

I was disappointed Katie didn't come back, either. Not because she is a great actress or anything, but just for the sake of continuity.

I agree. I'd prefer all the same actors, and unlike most I didn't have a problem with Katie's acting in Begins. You have to look at the silver lining, however, which is that Maggie is most definitely a better actress.
