I have two that are not on the list yet. Both Hitchcock. One considered the fore-runner of the modern action film. The other maybe Hitchcock's top masterpiece of his style and shock endings.

North by Northwest and Vertigo.

Both have stellar performances by top actors. Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart.

I'll pick one but hope the other one gets entered by someone as well.

James Mason and Martin Landau have outstanding supporting actor perfomances in this one as well... I'll go with North by Northwest.

That is good then. We have both picked well.

North By Northwest is a brilliant movie.

Yeah it is. Its just chock full of great stuff. James Mason is just spot on with his high brow character... and that dialog that he gives Grant in the auction scene in particular, but throughout the movie as well is top notch and funny! Cary Grant is virtually untouchable in his acting ability and of course it shows here again. The sets, the Van Damn house, Mount Rushmore, etc... and of course the archetype plane attack scene with the crop duster. Its one of those scenes that has been copied time and time again, so as to seem so familiar, but here is the original.

Yeah, I picked Vertigo, but Movies hasn't added it yet for some reason.

OK. Good show then! Vertigo is hypnotic. It requires repeat views to absorb and sort through all the psychological and visual aspects. What a stunning movie.


And of course both of them have celebrated fantastic addictive melodic scores by Bernard Herrmann.

Can I change my vote to a Street Car Named Desire. I think that is a slightly more iconic movie than Mommy Dearest, and has a little more relevance in pop culture.
