Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

I have HBO (and HBO GO) via my cable (xfinity) so I guess I don’t automatically get this, right?
I just saw the deal on their website, but I'm going to assume you can for the simple reason that AT&T will want to drive as many existing HBO customers to Max as possible, even at a discount.

This will launch with much more domestic scale then I thought it would even a month ago. The early sub numbers for this (with migration & platform availability) will be very impressive.

I canceled my HBO Now subscription through iTunes and created a new account through HBO Max so I can get the discount price.

It looks like you can only get it for free if you have HBO on AT&T but since I'm on Xfinity then I'm out of luck. My contract with Xfinity doesn't expire until July so it looks like I'm opting out of this for now since I don't want to double subscribe. :(

Keep an eye out, expanded discount options is a possibility before launch.

Keep an eye out because they keep adding partners. Like, since their initial announcement, they’ve added people who already subscribe through Hulu, AppleTV and also Charter/Spectrum cable subscribers to the groups that automatically get it free if they’re paying for HBO. And they say they have other distribution deals in place that those partners will announce at launch. So ya never know, Xfinity might be one.

Yeah, this is why New Mutants ain't going straight to streaming - Fox had a pre-existing deal with WB/HBO for a lot of their content before the Disney buyout. So if New Mutants were sent straight to streaming, it would have to be on HBO Max, not Disney+ or Hulu. So that's a no-go.

I am SO here for all these classics, though! :woo:

Yeah I know abut the deal with Fox. HBO also has a deal with Universal which they renewed very recently. On the other hand I think Universal/Comcast has a deal in place for the HP movies which is why those movies won't appear in HBO Max soon.

But I see Bayformers 2 in there and that's Paramount. I didn't know HBO also had collaborations with Paramount.

Plus there's Casino Royale which is Sony and Armageddon which is from Disney (actually it's Touchstone Pictures but didn't that fold into Disney).

Yeah, HBO has always licensed films from other studios. I wouldn't expect that to change now.
