Now Introducing HBO Max Classic

It just keeps getting worse and worse. Thankfully, that stuff isn't disappearing from the face of the Earth like some of these other productions.

Can't wait for all this children's content to be replaced with the wonderful fandoms of the 90 Day Fiancé Universe.
You fool, 90 Day Fiance isn't a fandom, it's part of a genredom.

I haven't seen an executive self-sabotage himself and become so hated so quickly than Zaslav. The Batgirl cancellation unleashed such a domino effect that has been catastrophic to witness. Thank god for piracy, otherwise some of these shows would have followed that movie's suit and become lost media.

There's even a FireDavidZaslav hashtag going on Twitter right now.

It’s obvious he’s only there to get it out of debt and then get a golden parachute to leave.
Yeah, this is it. I doubt he's planning to stay for the whole "10 year plan" and beyond like Feige. If he had that intention all this could have been communicated so much more effectively and any plans they do announce will now have to cope with people almost not giving what they hear a fair chance and wanting to not like them as opposed to normally wanting to get hyped. You don't take away first without solid reasoning and before giving a promise for the future and what people will be getting to make up for it He's not in the market for ironing boards where customers care only about functionality every 10 or so years - the fandom including a part of the GA continue an active interest between films and shows (which plays a big role in free and viral marketing) so communicating plans to customers well matters unlike some other industries.

He seems to have a pathological dislike of anything remotely "childish".

Also remember that part of the reason Sesame Street went to HBO was because it was thought that its future would be more secure and more preserved by HBO rather than PBS.

I believe some of the classic episodes from seasons 1,5, and 7 are still on there. And of course seasons 39 and up are there too.

I'd be shocked if Zazlav doesn't get fired by year's end after all this, let alone get to do his stupid streaming merger. WB Discovery's stock is plummeting and the more and more stuff getting yanked from HBO MAX, the greater the outcry is becoming. He's turning quickly into quite the pariah, and I'd be surprised if there aren't people on the board who aren't happy with him. Dude's gotta go. He's making Bob Chapack look like a saint by comparison.

They will give him time to turn the stock around. They gave Chapek some leeway because of COVID.

Zazlav doesn't have COVID as an excuse here. Mark my words, if the Internet getting increasingly angry at him doesn't do anything, then I'm certain people will be picketing outside of his offices if something REALLY major gets yanked or even straight up canceled.

Puck News - Zaslav’s Hamptons-Hollywood Vanity Project

"Since taking over WBD in April, David Zaslav has run the company like a cost-cutting vigilante… until it comes to an odd gangster movie project written by his Hamptons buddy, Nick Pileggi."
So how did Wise Guys happen? How did a film that is expected to cost between $40 million and $50 million, that literally nobody at Warner Bros. wanted to make, and that doesn’t really conform to the standard for films that Zaslav himself espoused to investors not three weeks ago, end up as the first real greenlight of the new Warners era?

According to three sources familiar: Early one morning in May, Zaslav called up Winkler, whom he’s known for years. (Between this project and Sylvester Stallone’s recent attacks over Rocky ownership, Winkler hasn’t enjoyed this much press in years.) Zaz asked how they could work together, and Winkler mentioned this Wise Guys script by Nick Pileggi that Warners, among others, had passed on. Turns out Pileggi and his late wife, Nora Ephron, have been close Hamptons friends of the Zaslavs for years, a fact that Winkler presumably knew all too well. One source even told me Pileggi had discussed the project with Zaslav before the Winkler call, which would explain his exuberance. (A rep for Zaslav declined to comment.)

So Zaz called Emmerich, and Toby apparently explained why a movie like this might not be on-strategy for Warners, meaning it wasn’t gonna do enough business in theaters to justify a marketing campaign, and it would probably be too expensive for what Zaslav wanted to spend on films for streaming. Zaslav didn’t exactly demand that Emmerich do the movie, but he certainly made it known that he thought it was a great project and he’d love to see it made, despite the reservations. So the greenlight process started.

Sounds like a case of 'show friends' after all.

CNBC - Here’s why HBO Max is pulling dozens of films and TV series from the streaming platform
  • Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max is removing 20 HBO Max original series that didn’t resonate with large audiences.
  • Most of what HBO Max is removing is reality or kids and family content.
  • HBO Max is eliminating the series to cut costs and put forth a new strategy as it prepares to merge with Discovery+ next year.
While HBO Max already paid for the production of these shows, it’s still on the hook for residuals, including so-called back-end payments to cast, crew and writers, based on long-term viewership metrics.

............

The content eliminations in total will save “tens of millions of dollars,” according to two people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named because the finances are private.

In short, **** David Zaslav. For Ezra Miller being puppeteered by the studio, to burning down WB and HBO for the money (tax write-offs and getting rid of paying residuals and healthcare), to ridding the company of diverse executives and entertainment and replacing them with people that look like David Zaslav, to turning CNN in the direction of being a false equivalencies GQP appeasement network, and so on.

Canceling And Just Like That will make all them millenials riot. :o

JESUS CHRIST. We need to do something. Sounds like the guy's a bigot.

There's no way he gets fired. He has a contract that goes through 2027.

This merger never should've happened. It's done irreparable harm to creators and animators. Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard should be blocked too.
