Associated Press reported last night that Hasbro will be giving Spiderman creator Stan Lee the super hero treatment. A 6-inch likeness of the comic book icon complete with khakis and eyeglasses will be released as a limited edition action figure.
Stan Lee is the 84 year old comic book artist known also for having created the X-Men, Hulk, and the Fantastic Four.
The Stan Lee figure will be released at a retail price of $14.99 at the annual San Diego Comic-Con next month.
The idea of Stan Lee getting his own figure is embraced by many a Marvel fan- in fact some proposed making a series of Lee's likeness, giving him a different look for each film he has had a cameo in. For instance, in the original Fantastic Four Film he was a postman.
Although this is the first time Lee will have his own action figure, this is not the first time he has been immortalized in such a fashion. Bowen Design released a mini-bust paying tribute to Lee in 2004. The Bowen bust was a limited edition of 1,500 and came in a collector's box complete with biographical notes on the side of the packaging.

Stan Lee Gets His Own Action Figure
June 20, 2007 - 10:07pm
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Comic-book fans already know Stan Lee is a Marvel legend. Now Hasbro is making it official.
The company will pay plastic tribute to the 84-year-old creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, X-Men, Fantastic Four and other comic-book heroes by interpreting him as a 6-inch tall Marvel Legends action figure. The toy shows Lee's likeness wearing khaki pants, a blue windbreaker and eyeglasses.
"We feel it's long overdue that Stan Lee be immortalized as an action figure, much like the dozens of marvelous characters that he has created for years and years," said Eric Nyman, Hasbro's vice president of marketing. "And it couldn't be more fitting than to create him as a `Marvel Legends' figure."
The limited-edition, $14.99 toy will be introduced next month in San Diego at Comic-Con International, the annual comic-book convention.
