I've been looking for another thread but am coming up empty handed and I think a new topic might be alright to discuss this anyway. If not, merge away with my pardons.

I want to know the best theater to go see this puppy for a midnight showing in NYC. I want to be among fellow diehards, and not with a bunch of people who haven't read the book or don't appreciate the thing.

So where are you New Yorkers going to be? Will you be in costume? How early are you going? Are you going to IMAX?

(Feel free to ask about your own separate locations too...I just really want to know about NYC)

I've got class early that morning, so I can't make it. But you won't go wrong with AMC Empire 25 or Loews Lincoln Square 13. From my experience, they're the best in the city as far as theater chains go.

I'm seeing the midnight showing at my theater, I can't wait.

I'll be in New York from February 26th to March 2nd. Too bad I couldn't see Watchmen with you guys. :csad:

It'll be my first time in NY so can anyone recommend any cool places to check out other than Midtown Comics?

^^^ visit 30 Rock, Central Park, Little Italy (best place for food), New York Skyride, and some other places that i cant think of right now

I promise you, anyone who's seeing it at midnight will be people who are amped for the movie. That's what midnight showings are for.

You forgot Times Square.

Do you go to NYU?

Agreed. You usually can't go wrong with a midnight showing...usually.

At least for the very first showing. All bets are off for the type of midnight showing experience one would have after the release date, in which case you'd either be in an empty theater or a theater full of nutjobs.

No, I go to Hunter. But I've got a few high school friends in NYU.

As for midnight showings, I've actually never been to one in the city. Do people usually camp outside?

I recommend going to the AMC 25 on 42nd Street. They have an IMAX theater now. If anyone is gonna dress up as Rorschach, there aren't going to be many hookers walking around for you to walk past, but It'll kind of be like the book nonetheless. Plenty of waste and immorality though if you're gonna go all the way with 'be'-ing the character haha. The other IMAX theater is up on the Upper West Side at about W 70th st.

I hope it plays in the Ziegfield though. I saw 2001 A Space Odyssey there and it was really cool. Huge screen very old fashioned curtains and everything, not like modern theaters.

True.

There have been a few where the typical morons(talk on cell phone or just talk about ******** while the movie is playing)happened to show up. Like they had nothing better to do so they went to a midnight showing.

Most of the midnight showings I've been to though, the audience has consisted of mainly hardcore fans of whatever the film is.

Ahh man. I wish I could've gone seen this, since I live like 40 minutes away from the city (in westchester)

I probably wouldn't have gone, since my parents wouldn't have let fo :p

to my great surprise i recently found out about an advanced screening here in tucson az on march 3rd, its gonna feel great to watch it earlier than most

I am spoiled. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the special 42 E Dark Knight screenings, so when I saw Dark Knight it was with a group of crazy viral people who had been waiting just as long as I had been.

When I went and saw a midnight showing, there was a group of annoying guys in the row in front of me that annoyed me the whole time.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm looking into everything that was recommended!

Midnight showing? Fortunately for me,I get to watch Watchmen at a staff screening at work around 10pm this Thursday.
