Pst, you forgot Interview with the Vampire.

I've seen Interview with the Vampire and was not impressed by Cruise or Pitt.

I think one of Cruise's best performances was in A Few Good Men, but that's just me. Very intense and layered.

he had a perfect script to with there. and the role was incredibly suited for him.

Risky Business still the best of them all.

How many Tom Cruise films have you seen? You want to compare his performances in Born on the 4th of July, Jack Reacher, Collateral, Eyes Wide Shut, Tropic Thunder, Knight and Day, and Magnolia?

He's a great actor who doesn't always get his due because of his movie star status and signature roles.

Yeah, that shot was something else.

I hope we get to see the full scale prop they built on the BTS featurettes.

Saw only snippets of the tv spot so I wont get totally spoiled, looks great with what I saw.

Sure. Doesn't lessen Cruise's effort. Pacino and DeNiro were working off of a near-perfect script in Godfather Part II. What does that have to do with their talent and performances?

Besides all the ones already named by everyone, I thought he was also great in "The Last Samurai." What an impressive filmo he has!

If people are questioning Cruise as an actor, I'd have to question their taste moreso.

I like Cruise as an actor, but he doesn't really have that much range. Everything is so intense. In the once scene where he's describing the last Superbowl, it just doesn't work for me. The way he acts doesn't come off as someone who is a football fan, but rather someone just someone acting the role.

I have fine taste, thank you very much. Going by your logic, that would only mean I have VERY good taste, as what I consider to be an actor worthy of praise would have to be better than Cruise. :o

I'll give you Interview with the Vampire - I didn't like him in that, but at least he tried to be an actual character in a film, as opposed to Tom Cruise in (insert situation here). I don't count Tropic Thunder, as that was a cameo, and merely a bald and fat Tom Cruise played for laughs.

I don't think he's a bad actor. I just don't think he's a great actor. I enjoy some of his films (I'm looking forward to this one due to the story), but I would not say that I go looking for Tom Cruise films. That's just my opinion, which doesn't infringe on anyone else's. :yay:

No love for Cocktail and Top Gun ? :)

My original list wasn't all his performances I love. There are a good dozen at least that I left off, including these two. Heck, I think he does a fine job in "Far and Away".

My point was more on range. For me he has clearly shown he has plenty over the years and those films I listed are a good example of that for me.

I was ready to hate this film, but ended up really enjoying it and Cruise was a big part of that.

One of my favorite films. Cruise is able to stand toe to toe with Jack Nicholson in one of his finest performances. Not to bad for an okay actor. :woot:

I think you are exactly right. I love Ethan Hunt but it seems for many that is all he is and I don't think that is true at all.

Heck, I think he does a fine job in "Far and Away".
Ironically, Far and Away and Valkyrie are two of his more panned roles/films, and I actually like him better in those than half his other more acclaimed stuff.

A bald and fat Cruise wasn't what made that cameo so funny to many, but how he played it and delivered his lines.

The scene when he talks on the phone to that little leader is awesome acting. I'm both intimidated and laughs my ass off. :D

And, having seen Rock of Ages as of yesterday, let me add his Stacee Jaxx as a testament to his range. Crappy movie or not, Cruise was amazing in it, imo.
