Haha, I figured you'd be happy with all the positivity. Now this director just needs to get busy on Tron 3!

I liked this but it felt heavily stuffed with too much going on for a rather simple invasion plot. Space sleep, aliens, clones...all of that wasn't needed. The movie was too long due to that. Because they had so many wanton twists, they created plot holes. What happened to all the stations around the Earth? Did those clones shoot themselves in the head because their home base and all humanity they thought was then gone? Why did Morgan Freeman and co. wear dumb helmets all the time to scare the fug out of Jack? They could have all been waiting down there for him when he fell down the hole. But no...they wanted to look like monsters? Why not create a message out of white rocks when he flies by?
The movie was gorgeous though. This very well could have been imo the sci-fi movie of the decade. It had a strong theme, amazing visuals, and a great story aside from the overstuffing.
Just because they don't explain what happened to the other stations doesn't make it a plothole. They dressed like monsters to fool the drones and they didn't really want to talk to Cruise til after the other astronauts landed. All of that is explained in the movie
I like to think that there were plenty of other stations around the planet, and that the Techs all eventually came together, which could lead to some interesting developments as far as what it means to be human, individuality etc. Are all the others okay with the fact that only one of them gets to be with their wife? Etc
It wouldn't make sense that there were only two, given the limited geography covered in the film.
the question is why did Freeman and co. walk and jump around like animals? because of the twist that is spoiled in every trailer and poster? yes there are humans.
because Kosinski is a bad storyteler with an insane beautiful vision. yes he should direct movies because his movie looks good. but there is no hope for him with the story. he made the exact same problems like in Tron 2. its shocking.
Yes it does make it a plot hole. They tried to expand on the plot in the movie with clones and then they don't care about the other ones. They could have at least went or notified the other stations filled with innocent people. But no, they likely looked up into the sky, saw the explosion, and then shot themselves in the head because their world just ended. There are possibly 50 other Jack's out there but hey, the movie ended with the other Jack coming back to replace the main Jack so that's all that matters. It's flimsy. Hell, station 52 Jack left his lady up on her station to die. No one cares?
They dressed like monsters to fool the drones? The drones were programmed to kill everything beside Jack. What does it matter if they dressed like monsters? It doesn't even make sense. The only thing that was explained and made sense was that they used old helmets to fool the drones. Why did they run around like monsters or keep their helmets on when Jack came down the hole? It's stupid and that spoiler was spoiled in the trailers anyways. All they had to do was hang out by a down drone and then Jack would have freaked out that other humans were still on Earth. But no, it's best to act animalistic??? They were running on all 4's in the trailer. Doesn't make sense. So dumb.
