Of all of the days my 360 decides to be a complete *******, it chooses today!!! ****!!!:cmad: New batch of games and this thing starts freezing at every opportunity it gets. In-game, load-screens, character selection screens, it does it all! Random screaching!...S**t. I'm hoping that it just needs to cool off or something because this is just not the day to pull this crap.

This might be signaling the red light of death. :csad:

When "the red light of death" comes on is the system dead?

Is there a way to fix it? :(

It's dead. Unless you're a tech wiz, you're not going to be able to pop it open and fix 'er yourself.

What I'm hoping for is that it was either overheated or that this is some kind of glitch. Fight Night Round 3, F.E.A.R, and even Ultimate Spider-man run smoothly. But try to play Smackdown vs. Raw or Need For Speed and the thing just starts getting s**ty. I didn't even bother to put in Gears of War for fear of getting into it and being thouroughly dissapointed.

Anybody else ever encounter this before? Like a game would just freeze and the sound would keep playing or screech or something?

Actually, I have. Oblivion used to do that ever so often with my Xbox 360, but now it hasn't happened for quite a while. That was around when I first got my 360.. but once I put it in an well-ventilated room (my bedroom), the problem pretty much disappeared. I still get random 'disc is not clean' errors once in a blue moon, but that's it.

I've gotten the red lights of death a handful of times, and it always ends up working again.

hmm. Alright. Gonna give that a shot and hope it works. Already called microsoft and they're sending a box for me to send it in. should be here by next week. Really hoping it works the same again before then though.

There are several versions of the R.L.O.D

I had the red ring show up for a second.
Scared the crap out of me.
I realized it was because i pressed the reset button on the wall socket...though I don't know why it caused it...

I think some of that glitchiness can be fixed, especially for Oblivion. There was something that said you could clear the cache or something like that. Supposed to be pretty simple, boot up the 360 with Oblivion in and hold a few buttons down. Too lazy to find it, but it does fix a lot of those bugs with Oblivion.

I had a Red Ring. scared the hell out of me!

But it was because the AV cord wasnt pluged in.

It all depends what is causing the "Red Ring" actually.
There are many causes of this sort of behavior around the XBOX 360 console.
If your screen is freezing, it may be that you will need to send the console in for repair to Xbox. However, odds are this is fixable. If you try all the troubleshooting steps I have in this post below and it still does not work, call 1-800-4-MYXBOX and ask a "Hardware" agent, REMEMBER THE NAME HARDWARE! If you get a Live, Media, Et Cetera they will not be able to help you unless they happen to be cross-trained in both. Once you call in, tell them your screen is freezing.

Go through the following Article...

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907586/

and check for the following...

Make sure the clock is set right,if you are connected to xbox live you don't need worry about that.
Check disc for scratches, try without hd (Hard Drive). if freezes without the hd (Hard Drive) you need to call my friends at Xbox.
Also, make sure your power supply is always green. sometimes people have that if there in a surge protector.

Hope that Helps,

Sincerely,

Does it really matter where you buy it though? I mean a console is a console.

Awesome. Already called them and there should be a box in by tuesday but this may mean I don't have to send it. Gonna try this.

Costco doesn't really have a return policy on anything. A friend of mine had a third gen iPod that he didn't buy from Costco and he returned it to Costco saying it was a gift. He got a new iPod video too.

...wow...Nice.

Too bad those things didn't work. Tried all that already. At least I've got my Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Rainbow Six has frozen up on me a couple times, but all the other games I play are fine and I've played them all just as long or longer. Might be a problem with those specific games.
