I noticed there wasn't any discussion thread on the superteam of Canada, and somehow I realized that there should be one, because an Alpha Flight TV show would be AWESOME!!!

Ever notice that there's a lot of sci-fi shows that are shot in Canada? Battlestar Galactica, Smallville, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Dark Angel and a bunch of others all film up north and use mostly Canadian casts. I want to see an Alpha Flight show that is shot on location up north, using all Canadian talent and crew. I don't know why, but the idea of that just fills me with joy. Maybe it's because I love BSG.

Please, discuss

Well I must admit that I would love to see team Alpha in some capacity. Alpha Flight was the first title I tried to complete as Byrne was my first favorite artist growing up and Guardian is one of my favorite heroes. I still own Uncanny Xmen #109, one of my favorite comic covers of all time, Guardian woopin ole Wolvie in all its glory.

I think they need to introduce Alpha Flight in a Wolverine sequel.

In Origins we see how Logan got his claws and his Weapon X days, but in the sequels we should see his time roaming including his time with Alpha Flight.

Then once the team is introduced in Wolverine, give them their own spin off movie. Make it a totally Canadian movie, by Canadians and with Canadian actors and locations.

But I digress, Alpha Flight should be featured as the Canadian Homeland security type thing. Like Wolverine Origins' Weapon X, Alpha Flight could be set in the past (only this time not so distant). And then in their spin off it could be set in modern times, after Wolverine left them to join the X-Men.

Ooooooookay, here's my shot-from-the-hip cast so far (and again, trying to keep it as Canadian as possible):

BSG's Michael Trucco as fearless leader and founder Jim Hudson/Guardian
castguardian.jpg

Alaina Huffman ("Smallville," "Painkiller Jane," "Stargate Universe") as Heather McNiell/Vindicator
castvindicator.jpg

Another BSG alum, Alessandro Juliani as Northstar
castnorthstart.jpg

With him in mind tho, I can't figure who's right for twin sis Aurora...

Callum Keith Rennie as Walter Langowski

And if they need an actual actor to play Walt's alter ego Sasquatch, they could do worse than the hulking Kevin Durand ("Lost", Wolverine, "Dark Angel," Smokin' Aces)
castsasquatch.jpg

You know her, you love her, Laura Vandervoort ("Smallville") as Snowbird
castsnowbird.jpg

The only man alive who can convincingly play a butt-kicking dwarf, Martin Klebba (Pirates of the Caribbean, "Scrubs") as Eugene Judd/Puck
castpuck.jpg

The one and only Jay Tavare ("Into the West", Pathfinder) as Michael Twoyoungmen/Shaman
castshaman.jpg

And yet another BSG alum, Nicki Clyne as Marrina
castmarrina.jpg

So that's it so far. Any ideas for Aurora? or Kyle?

No love for Wee-man?
Put Marty and Wee-Man in a ring and let em fight it out for the role. It'd be awesome

Anyway, here's a nice pair of Canadians for the twins:

Kris Lemche (Final Destination 3, 24: Redemption, "Joan of Arcadia") as Northstar/ Jean-Paul Beaubier
castnorthstar2.jpg

and Mia Kirshner ("The L Word," The Black Dahlia, "24") as Aurora/ Jeanne-Marie Beaubier
castaurora.jpg

OMG Im not the only one that liked Kirshner as Aurora!!!!!!!!:D

He might be slightly too old now, but there's never been a more perfect Mac than Paul Gross.

I really like that casting.

I know he always kinda looked it, but I hated that they made Northstar gay.
Why?

Wow, the casting so far has been so 'Sci-Fi channel meets the WB'. I'd expect an older actor to play James McDonald Hudson, and someone heavier for Walter Langkowski.

Except for Klebba and CKR, Trucco is the oldest guy in the above cast. CKR's probably not the best choice for Walter, and it's not a hard role to cast anyway.

As for Northstar's twin, what about that girl Morena Baccarin or whatever her last name is.

I want Seth Rogen for Walt. He's seems too young now, but he really looks like him... and he's Canadian.

I'm kind of hoping for someone who looks like he was a football player because Walter was one.

Whenever Rogen is in decent shape there's nothing really un-footballer like about him, 'cept for his height and that can be manipulated.

your logic here is sound

I wonder if there's a younger look-alike of Kate Walsh. She's got the right looks for Heather Hudson.

Thanks, It is a way to introduce them to the public who know nothing about them, in a movie almost everyone will know about, while keeping their history in tact. Plus its probably the only way they will get acknowledged properly.

Why not Nathan Fillion as Hudson?
NathanFillionasGuardian.jpg

(Someone else posted this idea elsewhere, but its a good idea)
Fillion, from what I have heard, is also Canadian.

And i found this too:

Tilda Swinton as Snowbird (imagine her wearing solid black contacts.)

neat... now, if only to divorce the team origins from the X-Men, so Fox doesn't claim ownership...
