Official ALPHA FLIGHT movie/tv show discussion thread

Sasquatch should be played by someone like Brian Steel. He's almost 7 feet tall and was Wink in HELLBOY 2, so he knows how to wear the rubber!

^True, but Sasquatch also talks and behaves like a human, so whoever wears the suit also needs to deliver a performances that's not just a monster, which seems to be Steele's forte.

Rounding out the cast with a couple more members I neglected before:

For Shaman's daughter Talisman, I'll take Seychelle Gabriel (The Spirit, The Last Airbender)

And Kyle Schmid ("Blood Ties", A History of Violence) as Wild Child/Kyle Gibney

I guess I could see Schmid as Wild Child

I always liked Olivier Martinez and Audrey Tautou for Northstar and Aurora

It's a pity Kate Walsh isn't Canadian. I'd love to see her play Heather Hudson.

^I loathe Private Practice. But I love Kate.

I don't watch either Private Practice or the original show.

Mia Kirshner would be good and all, but now I'm thinking that Katharine Isabelle would be even better for Aurora. She's definitely got that crazy switch.

I saw a book of all the mutants Fox could use in their X-Men movies, and I believe all of Alpha Flight was in it. With the exception of Namor and perhaps Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, if it's a mutant, Fox can use them!

Damn. And here I thought I could put Squirrel Girl in the Great Lakes Avengers movie i'm writing :( !

We need more artwork of Wolverine with the Hudsons. They make a great trio.

They could have set up a Alpha flight spin-off in the wolverine movie...but they screwed that up too

Great choice

She used to always come into this restaurant i worked at. Such a sweatheart!

I could see the SHIELD show or even Avengers 2 having a passing verbal reference to it (because of the events of the past several years and especially after the Chitauri incursion, Canada has come up with their own version of the Avengers Initiative...), but I doubt we'll see them anytime soon. That said, I'd love to see them in a movie. My preference would be for the original early 80s era crew- Puck, Guardian (Mac), Shaman, Snowbird, Aurora, Northstar, Sasquatch, Marrina (and I could see Heather in a "Pepper" role initially, suiting up in a sequel). Of course, chances are the lineup would be cut in half due to budget/script issues. Plus, who knows how many characters Fox considers in their control. Oh, well...

I think they need to introduce Alpha Flight in a Wolverine sequel.

In Origins we see how Logan got his claws and his Weapon X days, but in the sequels we should see his time roaming including his time with Alpha Flight.

Then once the team is introduced in Wolverine, give them their own spin off movie. Make it a totally Canadian movie, by Canadians and with Canadian actors and locations.

But I digress, Alpha Flight should be featured as the Canadian Homeland security type thing. Like Wolverine Origins' Weapon X, Alpha Flight could be set in the past (only this time not so distant). And then in their spin off it could be set in modern times, after Wolverine left them to join the X-Men.

This would get my vote.

The reason so many things are filmed in Canada is because it is typically cheaper, easier to secure permits and Canada and the Provinces don't try and gauge the studios with permit fees, taxes etc...Vancouver used to be called, "Hollywood North".

That said, as a lover of all things Canada (grew up on the border - my nearest city of any size was Whitehorse, and I ended up doing my graduate work in Canada - and almost married a Canuck - I ended up living in Montreal while she finished up her PhD at McGill - love that city) - getting an Alpha Flight movie made will be a hard sell. The more likely scenario is getting an animated film direct to DVD out of Marvel.

He might be slightly too old now, but there's never been a more perfect Mac than Paul Gross.

I 100% agree. He's my number one pick. I'd be happy with either Eric Johnson or Kevin Durand as Sasquatch. Johnson did a great job as Sam Fisher, and Durand's kinda an underrated actor. Plus they both look like they could be ex-football players (to me anyway). Anyone else think Rachelle Lefevre could be a good Vindicator?

Marc-André Grondin and Emmanuelle Chriqui for Northstar and Aurora. They're both from Montreal and speak French.
