Saw TASM2 again tonight. After nearly half a year since the reaction to the movie, I wanted to watch it again with an open mind.

It really is the worst comic book movie I have seen in a long time.

^While I certainly dont think its a good movie, its entertaining, and far from the worst CBM ever made like some people claim. I think it hasnt helped that we have been a bit spoilt this year with CBM's.

Morning, everyone. :)

I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet. But so far I'd say that's the best for me.

Cheers.

Hi there, hafizbat. :)

It's amazing ( :funny: ) how the new series only took two movies to get to the level Raimi took three movies to reach. It's like they knew there's always a horrible movie in every series, so they didn't want to waste time to get there. :D

Cheers.

You haven't seen it but you think it's the best???

Hi, CyclopsWasight. :)

Hahahaha, you're right. My post was awfully written. :funny:

I meant, I haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy, but CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is so far the best for me.

I have to say that I saw two or three GOTG trailers and didn't do anything for me. So much so, I didn't bother to see the movie. Now, everybody's telling me it was good.

Cheers and thanks for the correction.

Do yourself a favour and watch Guardians asap, the trailers don't do the final movie justice, it's superb.

I found Guardians beautiful to look at, quirky and sometimes inventive irreverent fun but a bit sloppy and at times unamusingly juvenile with uneven writing and acting. It's not in my MCU top 5 whereas TWS is at the top.

Really? I didnt find anything like that in Guardians, and for me its the best MCU movie yet.

I agree with this completely
GOTG is such a fun movie, full of likeable characters, and some of the best sfx of any Marvel film

But the plot was super thin, some characters were underdeveloped, and the dialogue got pretty damn cheese-filled at times

Interesting. Obviously a better sample than here.

Round 1

Guardians beats DOFP, 776 to 299.
TASM2 narrowly beats Lego movie 535 to 520
TWS beats T4, 865 to 164

Ohhhh, the last questions a tough one
Neighbors gets my slightly bro-ish, stoner side laughing, while Grand Budapest cracked up my nerdy movie-lover side

Round 2

TWS vs. TASM2
TWS so far has a commanding lead. No big surprise.

GOTG vs. DOTPOTA
I'm only surprised with GOTG doing so well because of DOTPOTA is pretty good.

I'm sure Round 3 will be TWS vs. GOTG.

GOTG vs Dawn is VERY tough choice to make, both amazing movies and if it wasn't for DOFP either one could have been my number 1 for the year.

Hi there, AVEITHWITHJAMON. :)

Thanks for the recommendation. I have to say, sadly, that even when I enjoyed certain aspects of the movie, it rubbed me the wrong way in the end. :(

I loved how the characters were interconnected. Their mutual relationship of hate-dependence was very well crafted because that kept them in constant tension. They wanted to kill each other, but they had to save each other because they meant profit, then they loved each other after they all had hit bottom and only had the group to rely on. I also enjoyed the action very much.

But I have no taste for jokes like dancing, 70's songs used over and over for humor or the super-trite immature-womanizer-hero-that's-so-cool-he-sleeps-with-dozens-of-women-and-don't-remember-their-name type of character and arc (probably because I still have fresh in my memory that Tony Stark, Capt. Kirk and Hal Jordan, amongst others, were the exact same in their respective movies). Guess I'm one of those people.

Around the middle of the movie, when they were [BLACKOUT]re-evaluating their lives and forming the group[/BLACKOUT], the movie acquired a more serious tone that really helped me to connect with them. But the [BLACKOUT]dance off gag and Groom's "resurrection" (so to speak)[/BLACKOUT] didn't help me to buy the story.

Anyways, I can completely seen why the movie is popular. Just not my cup of hot chocolate. :yay:

My vote still goes to Captain America 2. But I'm seeing Sion City: A Dame to Kill soon.

Cheers.

Here's an update to my list (and keep in mind, films can shift places as my memory grabs certain aspects to add weight to, causing me to like it less or more).

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Blue is the Warmest Color (2014 release as far as the US and Oscars goes)
Edge of Tomorrow
Snowpiercer (2014 release as far as the US goes)

X-Men: Days of Future Past
The Scribbler

300: Rise of an Empire
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Amazing Spider-Man 2
Jailbait (if it qualifies, since a comic was published specifically so the DVD could claim to be based on a graphic novel)

Still haven't seen Big Hero 6 or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Transformers is not a comic book movie. Whether or not someone wants it to be is irrelevant; the property is based on a toy line.

Have to disagree with both of you, I think it is a superb movie, and is Marvels best to date. It gets the concept of the Guardians so right and is quite faithful to comics as well.

The possibilities it has opened up for the cosmic universe are just so exciting also.

As long as Guardians of the Galaxy story is fun and the characters are likable, why debate how good it is as a movie?

Round 3 started.

Looks like Final Four will be GOTG, TWS, Hunger Games and while close Interstellar has small lead over Big Hero 6.

Well...we are on a forum.

Anyway, I've said many times that I think it's a good movie, I just thought that it should have been better in a few areas. *shrugs* Just my take on things.

My only real point of contention was the fight scenes. The action in general was good, but the fight scenes were quite poor. But that's something they improve on in the movie. The killing of Ronan is another one , he is too important a character to only have in one movie for me. Other than those I have no real problems with the movie. I am a huge Marvel Cosmic fan, and GOTG is a better start than I could hoped for.

Fair answer.

Finally, my vote goes to Captain America the Winter Soldier. X-Men Days of Future Past was a close second, but I didn't like that it practically erased the three previous movies. :(
