Because I know nothing of GOTG and didn't like trailers. It's same with TMNT,300,and Sin city sequel. If you want to call robocop reboot a comic book
film then add that to ones i have no plans to see.

I didn't like the trailers for GotG either and ended up loving the film.

There are many reasons to not watch GoTG but being unfamiliar with the property is imo not one of the better ones. First of all we should all be open to new properties, second and in any case, the characters are not actually original so you'll be able to buy into them quite easily. Rocket and Groot for example are just a simplified version of Han and Chewbacca. Quill on the other hand, is a white male with an athletic body type who tragically lost his parent as a child, and ends up saving the universe by having the team of misfits coalesce around him. Wheras the other characters have esoteric skills, Quill brings common sense to the table.

So don't worry about being unfamiliar with GoTG, you're more familiar with it than you realize.

Meanwhile the best reason to watch GoTG is that you get to participate in the conversations. It's top of the 2014 domestic box office.

I agree that both MCU movies this year were better than their trailers. Moreso with The Winter Soldier, I was expecting an awful movie based on the trailers, but five minutes into the film I was relaxed and focused and happy.

I'm on the fence between Guardians and ASM2.

Gonna go with the one I enjoyed most.

Days of Future Past gets my vote. This movie had me by the ****s from the opening scene. Ottman's theme made it all the sweeter.

Pleasantly surprised to see DOFP shoot up in the poll. It was lagging behind a bit there for a while.

For me, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Guardians of the Galaxy are tied, as I loved them all equally for different reasons.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier- best solo film by Marvel Studios to date. Top notch action, and was nice to see an "adult/serious" MCU film.

X-Men: Days of Future Past- a great serious comic book film that cares more about development of characters than just trying to destroy a city, favorite X-Men film to date.

Guardians of the Galaxy- took me by surprised, and out of the three, I had the best time viewing this. I was blown away.

So if I had to choose one, Guardians.

I go with Captain, was really surprised by it, easily one my fave Marvel solo movie.

Love the Cap universe and characters, loved Falcon, liked Agent 13 and I need more from her, and the tone and action was perfect. Ready for the sequel

GOTG for me, and it's not even close. Cap 2 was good, just not as good as GOTG. Haven't seen the rest yet. Honestly I think Cap 2 is being overrated, it gets a bit cheesy in parts for me. The plot was great, I just don't care for the Captain America character that much. The best parts of the film for me were the parts focusing on Nick Fury, Black Widow, and SHIELD's war with HYDRA. That said it is still a very good movie, I just wanted to point out some of what I think the Russo bros could improve upon for Cap 3. GOTG didn't have the same weaknesses IMO.

Also, congratulations guys, now I really want to see DOFP. Would you recommend watching The Wolverine before it? That's the only X-Men film I haven't seen.

Same here, thought Cap 2 was going to run away with it at one point, thought Guardians would get more votes as well.

I'd recommend watching The Wolverine because it was pretty awesome, but it isn't required viewing for Days of Future Past. There is a post credits scene in The Wolverine that vaguely bridges the two movies, you won't be lost if you skip it.

Same here. Quite surprised at the small number of votes for GuRdians given it's almost universal praise

Well, even though we are a CB messageboard, there's only going to be what 200 people who vote on this? It's not like a HUGE showing.

It's like some of the posters in the Spider-Man thread who are pinching their nipples because TASM2 got more votes than SM2 even though it was only out of selection of 54 people.

Cap, GOTG and DOFP all had universal praise. Like Erzengel said, there's just not enough votes here in the first place.

I know. Just mean of the 56 votes only 10 being for Guardians is alot smaller than I'd thought.

Gotcha, that can change pretty quick right now. X-Men jumped up within a day.

Guardians did beat all other summer movies on the front SHH poll by quite a bit.

I loved The Wolverine so I suggest you watch it. But you won't really miss anything if you skipped The Wolverine.

Go watch Days of Future Past now in cinema! :woot:

Same here, and the fact that it did better with critics than TWS did.

The Wolverine is a great flick on its own terms, for that reason alone it should be watched, especially the EE. But yeah, it wont effect watching DOFP if you miss it.

Is it even still in theaters? I was planning on just getting the DVD (comes out on my birthday!).

 GotG was way cheesier than TWS...

 GotG was way cheesier than TWS...

Why's that? I liked TWS more than GotG, I only ask because people sometimes equate cheesy with being goofy and that's not really what being cheesy is.

^Agreed, GOTG was quirky and goofy rather than being cheesy, TASM 2 was cheesy and I wouldnt say that and GOTG were similar at all.

The 3rd act of TWS got a bit cheesy.
