Yeah, I think it'll be sort of expected for him to be half-vampire at this point. It's a change I can't see them going back on, since it's been accepted for the better.

Ali will be 48 by the time they start shooting - he's obviously tremendously fit and all but I'm almost half expecting MCU Blade to be more like Peter Cushing's Van Helsing. Who knows, MS may specifically want it that way so as to be different from Snipes' Blade. If we see any Tweed during production, we'll have our answer:

    I kid, obviously.

Although I do find it funny that all the fan made pics of Ali as Blade kind of just assume he's going to look like Snipes' Blade.

There have been rumors that Blade's daughter might be introduced in the film.

Leigh Whannell would be a great choice. Guy's a good filmmaker.

Like a lot of MCU movies, I think they're gonna go a bit more out of the box...

    My picks:

    The Hughes Brothers
    Regina King
    Carlos López Estrada
    Shaka King
    JD Dillard
    Jason Lei Howden
    Oz Rodriguez
    Trey Edward Shults
    Joe Talbot
    Fede Álvarez

Marvel casting arthouse directors is always a good sign. Don’t know anything of home but I trust Feige

Ryan Coogler, Taika Waititi, Nia DaCosta, Bassam Tariq, Daniel Deston Cretton and Chloe Zhao.......all Directors of Color in the MCU. That's what I like to see.

I love it, a young talented director. Fresh people, fresh ideas, and fresh perspectives.

For him to get this, both Fiege and Ali had to sign off, now that is a vote of confidence.

His movie Mogul Mowgli has a 97% at RT for whatever that is worth.

John Campea tomorrow on his show probably: "I am not familiar with his work, so I don't know if this is the right pick"

‘Blade’ Director Bassam Tariq Teases MCU Vision: ‘We Can’t Deny What Wesley Snipes Did’

    [QUOTE/]
While speaking to IndieWire about “Mogul Mowgli,” Ahmed said, “Mahershala keeps texting me saying, ‘Dude, Bassam is out of this world. He’s a different kind of guy.”

Ali was instrumental in tapping “PEN15” Emmy nominee Stacy Osei-Kuffour for the “Blade” script, making her the MCU’s first-ever Black female screenwriter. Tariq and Osei-Kuffour have a big box to play: With its lack of canon, “Blade” is a more mutable IP.

“What’s exciting about the film that we’re making is [there] hasn’t been a canon for ‘Blade,’ as we’re reading through the comics and everything,” said Tariq. “Him being a daywalker is the one thing that’s been established, and you know we can’t deny what Wesley Snipes did, which was he basically got this whole ball rolling. A Black man created the superhero world that we’re in, that’s just the truth. For me to now be working with somebody as talented and a juggernaut as Mahershala Ali, and the writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour, I’m just so — I’m so honored to be working with real Black juggernauts and Black talent. For me to just be with them in this room and listen and learn as I build this out, it’s really an honor.”

People are upset that the film is going to be PG-13, not realizing that the Christopher Nolan Batman films were PG-13 and were as brutal and dark as any rated R film.

Were we watching the same Batman films?

But I will agree that Blade doesn't have to be rated R.

I'm honestly tired of having a younger version of someone else. Unless her daughter is just an ordinary person that won't take the Blade mantle sometime in the future, okay.

    Ummm....

I'm awaiting some sort of confirmation from Charlie on this. There's no way Blade would open in India on that date and not North America. Has it even started filming?

    This can't be right.
