'Fire rocking the dead red triangle.

I've got an '07 Chevy Cobalt LT Sedan. Sexy, right? 30 mpg for 10K so I'm not complaining much, though I plan to paint it to get rid of that dull gold color; at least two tone it. I can't say much about 'Fire rocking the dead brand car, since the Cobalt is being phased out for a new model in the coming year.

Back when I was selling cars, I sold a cobalt to this girl who traded in a 1995 Honda Protege that was painted Pepto Bismo pink. She told me she'd paint the new one the same color. I told her if she showed me, I'd take her to Longhorns for dinner. About three weeks later, I had a date to Longhorns.

Hey thanks...

I don't have anything invested in stock right now. In fact, I really have no investments at all. Any other tips for a guy like me that wants to start out?

Get those books. Also, start reading business magazines and financial papers like the Wall Street Journal. To make money you have to learn the lingo and how people who made it big think.

My only investment was 10 shares in Marvel stock. I bought it about 8 years ago, a few months before Spider-Man came out in theaters.

Amazon.com shopping cart FTW!

I'm in love with the paint job (Though not my colors, obviously, and that thorn on the rear door isn't my preference). I hope I can do something similar for my Cobalt this summer. What color was it originally, and how much did you enjoy the process of figuring out what you wanted it to look like?

it was originally black. it has a black/grey interior. I really like the color and the custom paint job does turn some heads. You can't really see it in the pics, but in the sun, the paint sparkles. It's got myoflake (sp?) in the paint job so my car, for lack of a better metaphor, glitters like a twilight vamp

anyone do any upgrades to their audio systems? i want to get a dvd receiver that can do audio, dvd and gps but i want a really good one if i'm going to pay all the money.

any recommendations?

bumping to the new page in hopes of some feedback

Yeah. There's metallic paint, which has colored flakes in the paint already, and then there's metal flake, which is just what it sounds like, colored flakes mixed in with a mid coat clear, which can be any color to go overtop an existing one (Such as black with red flake so that it sparkles a dark cherry red in the sun). I like the flake size of the metallic paint on my car currently, but I want to add a second color to help break up the boring factory paint. I would make throw a candy color overtop of the gold, but I know that it'll end up with stripes in it. Okay, I'm done babbling about terms that probably make little sense to anyone here.

C'mon Hype...Don't be shy!

We won't make fun of your cars!

If you don't have pics, at least post the kind of car you have DAMMIT

An old picture of me and my Toyota Yaris Sedan S. Don't worry, I got it in 2007-- long before Toyotas became sabotaged defective death traps.

If they do bring it back, they should use that Monte Carlo concept and build it similar to that.

I wish they would have put in the Buick Grand National V6 option, or at least give it a 350 lt4 vette engine option. They already have the Grand Prix

I have a few upgrades:

K&N Typhoon Intake

DC Sports Strut Bar

Eibach Sport Lowering Springs (lowered 1.6 inches in front, 1.8 in back)

Short Throw Shifter

OTP Downpipe

Greddy Oil Catch Can

Iv also added a pair of eyelids to go over the head lights. Give it a more aggressive style.

Im thinking of installing a 'Push to Start' modification. Iv seen a few people who have done it and its not too expensive to do.

As with all new threads with general topics, this one is gonna take a while to get going...I've gotta keep this car thread alive!

So, whenever I feel like this thread is dipping, I'll start posting GIFs of random cars that I like:

2010 Ford Taurus SHO

sho2.gif

My thoughts: People complain that the Taurus SHO isn't worth $38k, but with all that the car offers in terms of technology features, performance, safety, fuel economy, size, and resale value with that Ecoboost engine, it's price range isn't all that ridiculous.

Not many cars, as big and heavy as the Taurus, can achieve that same level of power (360+hp), fuel economy (17/25), and standard features for under $40k.

New Mustang V-6 With 305 HP Certified at 31 MPG Highway; Makes History as First Car With 300+ HP and 30+ MPG

DEARBORN, Mich., March 4, 2010 /PRNewswire/

The 2011 Ford Mustang today breaks new ground, cracking the record books as not only the most fuel-efficient Mustang ever, but also the first production car in history to produce more than 300 horsepower and more than 30 mpg highway.

The Mustang's official EPA ratings - completed this week - certify that models equipped with the 305-hp 3.7-liter V-6 and available six-speed automatic transmission achieve 31 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city. The standard six-speed manual transmission is rated at 30 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.

"The Mustang engineering team aimed high and, through hard work, achieved fuel economy numbers that elevate Mustang into a class by itself," said Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development.

"At no other time in Mustang's history - for that matter, in automotive history - have we been able to talk about 305 horsepower and 31 miles per gallon. The Mustang truly is a no-compromises sports car," said Kuzak.

Mustang is powered by a lightweight, all-aluminum 3.7-liter dual-overhead-cam (DOHC) V-6 engine that uses advanced engineering to deliver its combination of power and economy. Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) adjusts the valvetrain in microseconds depending on driver inputs, further contributing to the engine's overall efficiency.

The fact that Mustang achieves its top fuel economy rating with the convenience of an automatic transmission also marks a shift in conventional wisdom. Ford engineered a modern six-speed automatic transmission with carefully calibrated gear ratios and shift programs to maximize economy, while still delivering high-horsepower driving fun.

"Advanced powertrains like our Ti-VCT V-6 and six-speed automatic really speak to the future of Mustang," says Barb Samardzich, Ford vice president of Global Powertrain Engineering. "We've proven that, using technology, Ford can deliver both power and fuel economy."

In addition to engine improvements, upgrades to Mustang's body, powertrain and chassis design contribute to the higher fuel economy numbers for 2011. Examples include:

New Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system eliminates the drag of an engine-operated hydraulic power steering pump

Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions allow lower cruising revs without sacrificing off-the-line performance

Aerodynamic changes include improvements like a new front fascia, tire spats on the rear wheels, modified underbody shields, a taller air dam and an added rear decklid seal

The new 2011 Mustang already has more than 11,000 orders. Half of all the nationwide orders are for the car's fuel-efficient 3.7-liter V-6 engine. The 2011 Mustangs are also being equipped with record levels of technology, giving customers the option of choosing navigation, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps and rearview cameras.

Sex and champagne. :D

Well, maybe just some foreplay or groping instead of sex. Don't want to soil the seats.

Def looking at that new Mustang. Or a Camaro, or a Mazda Speed3 if I can learn to drive stick soon.

Mazdas don't rate well with me. Their dependability is pretty suspect, I know several people who near new Mazdas left them on the side of the road.

2009 Pontiac G8

My thoughts:Even though Pontiac is officially dead, the powerful, sporty G8 GT remains to be a hot seller among used GM car lots. Here, you have a full size sedan with the some of the best road performance you can find for under $25k used.

I would love to have one, but living up North has always made me feel weary about buying RWD cars.

Taken today, first time the soft top came off this year.
I am a jeep guy, been that way since I was a child.

My dream is to have a 70's jeep cj5. Since that is hard to come by in decent shape. I have this

I put jeep cj mirrors on it to give it a retro feel. Soon there will be full soft doors for easier removal during summer.

2010 Buick Lacrosse

lac1.gif

lac2.gif

My thoughts: This car is selling like hotcakes and it's pretty obvious why. Here, Buick has found a car to cross over away from their original target buyers, and has been able to spread its flagship sedan over to new and younger buyers with the new Lacrosse.

Not only is there no other car like it on the road right now (I suppose the Lexus GS is the closest in terms of exterior styling), but it's at a reasonable price, and delivers excellent Buick-style luxury and grabs good driving performance for a full-size sedan (With the CXS model).

I, personally, could see myself driving one in the future..
