Honestly, I was always pissed they retconned EVERYTHING about the clone saga. (Well, basically everything). I don't know why they didn't keep Ben on as a supporting character. He would have been great. I really enjoyed his dynamic with Pete.

And yeah, I'll take the clone saga over Mephisto the magical marriage hater any day.

I remember being a fan through that whole ordeal and they backed themselves into a no win situation. So many fans wanted that saga to end so they "cut the cancer" out of the book so to speak. If they left things like Ben or the baby they fans would have still had a problem with it.

Spider-Man was on a roll when Clone Saga was conceived. Micheline, Conway and DeMatties were telling some great stories prior but Superman dying and Batman's broken back were killing them so Marvel countered the best they could....by copying.

It wasn't until the dust cleared that people became more accepting of Ben and the baby...many started to question why it was ignored to that extent. That's what I liked about Final Chapter (before Byrne's lousy relaunch), was they they acknowledged the baby for the first time in 2-3yrs.

The Clone Saga would have been a much better story had it not just drug out for 2 1/2 years... and the awful "ressurect Norman" ending... ugh... followed by 4 years of just piss poor storytelling... which included Chapter One...

Having said that... between OMD/OMIT, Sins Past, the Other & Chapter One... those three are the ultimate poor chapters in Spider-Man's history... with a special mention to the "out of characterization" reveal to the world during Civil War...

Spider-Island was awesome... Alpha was forgettable, but certainly not ranking up there with the stories I brought up...

I'm still digesting "Dying Wish"... but in the end, I liked it quite a bit.

What's ironic is that Marvel is doing NOW what they should have done THEN. They should have let Ben move to another city to do his heroing there. Instead, they killed him off, brought back Kaine and did that. With Ben's name, no less.

yeah I'll believe it when I see it.... could be from an alternative future or timeline perhaps with all thats going on.... then again if theyre fighting Jackal clones the issue before you never know

It's been a little while since this thread saw any action so I thought I'd open it up by asking if there has been any ben news lately? Also not really related to ben per se but I recently picked up one of the ASM Infinite spider-man series Carnage figures recently and I love it. I hope this inspires Hasbro to use the same mold to build us a spider-carnage figure. (also crossing my fingers for a mayday spider-girl.)

There are currently 3 new Ben Reilly Action Figures on store shelves.
I'll be getting them next week.
All I'll be missing is the The Amazing Spider-Man one...
