Kaine isn't dying in the tie in book. It will be Ben. Kaine will die in the Amazing book fighting the Inheritors. It'll be heroic in sure. They are only going to have Pete, Miguel, Miles/Jessica, Gwen, and Cindy as Spider-Folk going forward in Comics. I'm sue May and Benjy will ride off into the sunset. I'm sure Spidey UK, Spider-Punk, SP//dr, maybe even Spider-Ham due in the massive battle to come. It's gonna be a big blow out ending.

Eventually Marvel will reboot altogether after the new Secret Wars leaving it at a singular Spider-Man story.

Ugh... If Kaine is sacrificed (again) for the sake of this dumb storyline that'd be the final straw. Besides he was already sacrificed for the sake of Maximum Clonage, the Gauntlet, at least two times in his own book, yadda yadda. Kaine's immortal.

I don't know, but that would seem like he got banned.
He was nice I guess, but his sensational posting style (specifically his penchant for announcing Ben Reilly was returning, or the marriage was coming back every time there was a cryptic blurb in the teasers) got a bit old.

Not in all cases.... I've seen accounts get scrubbed like that before. Usually for really bad bans. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but just FYI.

The ending for Scarlet Spiders was no surprise. It was a bit too quick how the heroes won the day. I liked seeing how current events ended a little differently in Ben's universe. It made want to pull out the Ben stories and give them another look. That was a fun book. I liked that team of Spiders. I would have liked to see them in more adventures. Scarlet Spiders is the best of the Spider Verse additional issues. Was the most fun to read. I haven't read the Ultimate Jessica Spider Woman stories but she's pretty interesting. I liked the arch Kaine got from Spider Island on through his own series and New Warriors.

Scarlet Spiders was okay, but I wish there had been more interaction between Kaine and Ben. It seemed heavy on action at the expense of characterization.

Not bad though. I'd give the mini a B.

Well they did play out as they set them up. Ben the eternal optimist whose will was going to see it through. Kaine the killer who tries to hold himself in check. Jessica a younger more polished version. She's a field commander cut from the same cloth that makes Captain America's uniform.

I liked how the author/writer took Ben on a journey. He entered the Inheritors world expecting a dark and gloomy place run by an evil tyrant. He found a soulless yet gleaming world showing the hubris of science in full display. It was a manufactured world with the appearance if a finely tuned clock. It was just a vaneer to cover the Inheritor's vulnerability. For such a key piece to their immortality, it was poorly defended. The fact that they had not been challenged by the right strike team made them secure in their insecurity. However Ben saw the small thermal exhaust port and with the force of his will took the shot causing the cataclysmic chain reaction.

I don't remember Ben discussing it, but was there reference to the Kaine of his universe? If there was such a clone in his universe?

I like good team books. This was a great team. It gets an A- for me. I would have liked one more issue to keep things from feeling too rushed and giving a few more panels to give toward characterization.

I have a question regarding a certian obscure ben reilly collectible that was released in the mid 90's. I remember seeing in an ad for kb toys or FAO Schwarz (I think it was in their christmas catalog) for a set of Spider-Man & Scarlet Spider bookends. Do any of the Reilly fans here own that set? I think they were produced by Marvel Entertainment around late 95 or early 96? It was definitely after Ben Reilly became Spider-man.

This is insane. According to the Sony e-mails released on Wikileaks, Sony was considering doing a Spider-Man Clone saga movie in 2019 that would have Ben Reilly, Kaine, the Jackal and a Gwen clone.

ASM: Jackal (second half 2019) - Dr Miles Warren had fallen in love with Gwen when she interned at Oscorp. When she died he blamed Spidey for her death and vowed vengeance. He attempts to clone her but fails. Instead using the blood and tissue samples that Norman had Kraven acquire he creates two low-grade clones of Peter, one who will eventually Ben Reilly and the other Kaine. He uses these to clones to unleash chaos on the city and not until Spidey defeats them and figures out that they are the same can the bring down Jackal. Here we see the birth of Scarlet Spider.

(They were also planning a Spidey2099 film and a Maximum Carnage film)

Yeah, Sinister got some of Ben's dna when he met Ben during that Spider-Man/X-Men mini a while back. Kinda weird none of these guys popped up during Spider-Verse with all that talk of how all the Spiders (including Kaine) were "drawn" to that point were they all met up at the actual start of the event.

Wow, that's cool. Not only referencing Ben Reilly, but also referencing that great Spidey/X-Men mini from 2008. Hopefully that means continuity is making a comeback. I'll have to check it out.

The Spidey/X-Men mini was awesome. I wish they would do more "Untold Ben Reilly" stories. They were supposed to do a bunch of backup stories about him in the last volume of Web, but that series ended too soon...

Has anyone managed to find the new Scarlet Spider Marvel Legends figure? It looks amazing, plus the Spider-Man costume coming next year will certainly be replacing the crappy one we got a few years back.

It appears as if the WW will be traveling to the worlds of the fallen Spiders of Spider-Verse (did anyone really believe that "all worlds will be destroyed before Secret Wars" crap?) and one of those worlds will be that of the Ben who was in the Scarlet Spiders mini...
