oh,and i gave x-men first class 3 stars too,so my local critics agreed with me,or i agree with them, this time.

WARNING if critics gives a superhero movie or sci-fi movie a rating they should not have,red flags should rise,and you could always tell they are bias in thier review.

It's a slick way to bash these type of films,and they do not do it with other types of films that have the same developed level of story OR SAME LEVEL OF ACTING.

Anybody that gives green lantern or thor 1 star is really full of crap.

2.5 stars at the very least is more understandable,of course i gave then both three stars,and i always wanted to see a thor movie has well,but a green lantern movie more so,and hopefully a part 2 so John stewart could become one A GREEN LANTERN.

Most film goers never read reviews, they made up their minds and bad word of mouth has already spread. It's box office fell by 22% on Saturday which is a very bad sign.

Here we go with the trap stuff again. Are you one of those "critics are conspirators"? Why can't movie reviewers (SO many of which are comic book readers and fans of superhero films) just not like the movie?

$53 million for the weekend isn't bad, and it hasn't even been released in the rest of the world yet. And since when did sales = good movie. Lots of great films make no money.

53M is bad mostly because of the 20% Saturday drop. Just to give an example Fantastic Four had only a 5.3% drop on Saturday. Thor had only an 8.4% drop, X-men First Class a 7.9% drop.

The difference is great films also have sturdy critical support as well as good audience feedback (for those that bothered to see it). GL has neither. Literally any way you look, this film is getting trashed.

You're right the movie is a trap. Something to trap our hard earned money for something undeserving of being a GL adaptation.

True, look at The Dark Knight for example with good audience feedback and critical support. I liked the Speed Racer film, but I can understand why critics and the public didn't like it. But I wouldn't go out and convience everyone to watch it and say the critics are wrong.

People will continue to stick their head in the sand regardless of how many facts and figures you pull up. Individuals may like it but the proof is in the pudding, GL didn't work.

Fixed that for you as not everyone disliked or hated it.

As amazing as this may sound, there are actually people that it did click with.

People will continue to stick their head in the sand regardless of how many facts and figures you pull up. Individuals may like it but the proof is in the pudding, GL didn't work.

That's a subjective statement [or should I say 'opinion']; if there are individuals that like it then it did work, for them, no?

Critics aren't working for Marvel. They don't have a vendetta against DC. The Dark Knight was on most of their Top 10 lists of 2008.

GL is not without its obvious flaws but come on, critics were clearly leaving a middle ground and moving towards bashing up a comic book based movie that is geared towards kids (as compared to earlier DC Comics movies do you want me to list them ?)

Are these DC Comics based movies Kid friendly ? Constantine, V for Vendetta, Batman Begins, Superman Returns, The Dark Knight, Watchmen, Jonah Hex, Losers, Red ?

Green Lantern was aimed at Kids and it worked from that perspective, it also stayed pretty close to comics (Secret origins), for its flaws it should have gotten an Average rating between 45 to 65 % but look at what majority of critics did RT Rating of 22 % I mean really what were they smoking ?

They were making the comic book movie movie kid friendly not Critic friendly, and from that point of view it was a good movie.

i think the film clearly failed on enough levels to justify that 22%.

also, their intentions werent to make a kid friendly movie. hell, the movie is rated PG-13. and even still, kid friendly movie doesnt mean making it stupid.

It kind of stuns me that people think Green Lantern is kid friendly.

The sexual tension between Hal and Carol isn't sugar coated. The look and tone of the Hammond character is not kid friendly. The results of Parallax's powers are definitely not kid friendly.

It's rated properly but Green Lantern is not a kid's friendly film....no way.
