Seems to me that I'm gonna have a very good Christmas this year. I hope Nintendo drops some bombs at E3. Gotta keep this momentum going.

I'm not crazy about they way the new Zelda and especially the new Yoshi game look. I actually prefer the visuals of the originals better.

Yep. Kotaku has some side by side comparisons...They're near identical. ..for a modern update.

Really? I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but look how vibrant and crisp the original game's graphics are:

LTTP2 looks very muddy and washed out in comparison.

Another comparison for Yoshi's Island:

The original game has a very beautiful hand drawn look to it. Whereas, the new one is kind of a smudgy mess:

These games also suffer some of the same problems I have with the New Super Mario Bros. games in that they have a very sterile look and lack personality. I don't think this is a problem with Nintendo necesarily, I think it more lies in recreating 2D classics in a no-frills 3D style. It's frustrating to see Nintendo go down this NSMB road again with two other series when I know they're capable of making great looking 2D games.

Having said that, I'm not making a snap judgement. I'm more than willing to wait for the final games to decide whether or not they're worth a purchase, but I was just kind of disappointed with what they showed of them today.

And before anyone throws the "nostalgia goggles" accusation at me, let me say that I barely played any of the original Yoshi's Island, and honestly wasn't crazy what I did play of it. I just think that original game is insanely pretty and kind of a technical marvel to boot.

I don't think they look sterile at all, it's just that you're not looking at 16 bit pixels anymore, instead you're seeing fully rendered 3D characters. Sure, there's a certain style to the SNES games, which I still enjoy to this day, but I can appreciate the newer take on it, too. I think both styles look good.

Seriously. Japan gets all the rad stuff. I want some rad stuff! Damn you Nintendo!!!!!

First, I would say that many 3DS game screenshots look horrible but much better when you play them.

Second, I agree on NSMBW and NSMBU. They felt very sterile. I don't really get the same vibe with these two, though.

Here's a more extended look at the new Zelda gameplay. It looks crazy cool fun

Meh, 3DS screen shots always look muddy...Then when you play them you actually see how nice they look.

Have you watched the actual 3D video of LTTP2? There's one on the eShop and it's pretty sweet.

I too love old school "hand drawn" pixels...But I too also like what we're getting here. They look like a blend of both worlds to me.

It feels kind of weird that I'm interested in playing Animal Crossing New Leaf.

Yeah, I just DL'd the video, and the game looks great on the 3DS. MUCH better than those pics that Soapy posted. Can't wait! :word:

Meh, I don't know anyone that owns a 3DS and I hated the co-op in DKCR. I much preferred playing it solo.

Fire Emblem Awakening is really awesome. The amount of options and stuff is really great for a handheld Fire Emblem. Anyone into this, I recommend picking it up, but don't expect a mind-blowing story. Just great gameplay and terrific music and good characters.

I love Fire Emblem. Right now it's my favorite 3DS game. It's just great.

I'm the opposite. I only played DKCR with a friends, preferred it that way. But that's the thing; since I never played it solo, I plan on doing that with the 3D version.

Everyone I played DKCR with was so bad at platformers that we could only complete a level if they hopped on DK's back and I took the reigns. That said, I'm really looking forward to getting this later this month. I'm gonna play the **** out of it.
