I've yet to watch the prelims but I was kinda disappointed with the card..

Alot of average & meh fights, the Cro Cop/Mir fight was a huge let down & snoozefest. Not alot happened in the fight it was pretty much a hugging contest until the third round. Mir didn't have the technical ability to take Cro Cop down & Cro Cop was hesitant on striking to his best ability for fear of being taken down..

Nog/Bader was a decent fight, Bader had a good gameplan. Glad to see Nog get beat, I'm still somewhat annoyed he got the nod over Jason Brilz in his previous fight..

Serra/Lytle was just a slugfest between 2 guys whos strong suit is probably their grappling.. meaning it wasn't as good a fight in my view.

Sherk/Dunham was probably the best fight of the night (without having yet seen the prelims) & was very close. I thought Sherk won the first 2 & Dunham won the 3rd.. but had Dunham got the nod I could understand why. The second round was close.

Guillard/Stephens was a decent fight, I enjoy Guillard's fights. Very fast & a good striker, I thought he just about did enough to beat Stephens.

Yeah Sherk/Dunham was a close fight, Sherk definetly won the first round, the second was a coin toss and the thrird was all Dunham.

The prelims were great, you'll enjoy Dollaway/Doerksen for sure.

The whole PPV sucked. Only two halfway decent fights? The rest were snoozes. I'm sick of watching fights where the fighters skirt through to a decision victory (the Sherk fight and the Serra fight are exceptions). So little actually happened in the fights that I had a friend cry "DO SOMETHING!!!" during the three boring ones.

The main event was pure garbage.

Although I am very happy I didn't have to actually spend money on this garbage. I feel for all who did.

3 rounders seem like such a ripoff when nothing is happening.
Mir looked huge compared Cro Cop. Lightheavy weight should be pushed up to 215 or 220.. Too much weight disadvantage for somebody that is in the 225 range fighting someone 255-265 lbs.

I don't know why anyone would have bought this PPV. It was a really bad card.

How does that indicate the Light-Heavyweight division should be changed?

What it indicates is someone who weighs 225 lbs. and can't compete should learn to cut weight to compete at 205 - you know, like Brandon Vera, Randy Couture, and whoever else did.

Again another Goldbergism!

"AND ITS ALL OVER"

"uh... no it's not"

"oh :S "

ROFL

Why should the heavyweights have a 60 pound limit in their class when the other weights don't have that big of a gap?

what the hell happened in that ME last night?? seriously....I could have organized my sock drawer and seen more excitement

Because that's how it's set up, and that's how it's been set up.

In wanting to change something, the onus is on the part of the person wanting change. A suitable reason for change is not "Why should it stay the way it is?"

No revolution was founded on vague mutterings.

The reason why there is such a huge gap with the heavyweights is because they can handle more weight. It's pretty much the same set up from wrestling and boxing over the years. Throw in the fact that heavyweights usually aren't as talented as the smaller weight classes below it and you've got a big gap of weight.

Heavyweights really have been dominated by smaller guys like Fedor, Randy, Coleman, Cro Cop, etc. historically. It wasn't until now that you've seen a huge guy like Lesnar, Carwin, Duffee, Overeem moving like they do. Mark Kerr was really a major exception back when he fought. Most guys that weight a slow and lumbering to the point that a smaller fighter could own them.

UFC 119: Slugfests and Decisions

Mediocre card with a boring main event. Sherk/Dunham was match-of-the-night for me

I think if Cain beats Brock you'll see one of the largest band wagon exoduses of all time.

Cain will beat Brock, so the internet is going to explode at about 1AM on October 22.

If he doesn't, then you could still expect the internet to explode like it always does when Brock fights. It's just that if Brock loses all the Brock haters will show up talking about how they predicted Brock's loss after he missed that F-5 against Kurt Angle at Wrestlemania.

I'm not counting Cain out. I'm the only person in my circle of friends who sees him standing a good chance of beating Brock. The other guys love Cain, but think Brock will trounce him.

I don't think Velasquez will be the man to beat Brock. I actually think Carwin posed a far greater threat to Brock because of his size, punching power & the fact that his wrestling credentials did stack up to badly against Brock's.

I just think Lesnar's size & athletism will be too much for Velasquez, it's all very well people saying Velasquez is a better technical striker than Brock, because he is. But to utilise that advantage he'll need to keep the fight on the feet & I don't think he'll be able to stop Brock closing the distance, bullying him & taking him down.

Brock's got the better wrestling pedigree by a good distance, if Lesnar wants the fight to the ground I think it's going there and he'll have an advantage on the ground. I'd expect Lesnar to have worked on his striking since the Carwin fight.. however I read somewhere part of the reason he looked lacklustre with a few punches in that fight was because he did no striking sparring, he had been doing only pad work for the duration of his training camp to get his technique back.

Alot of people seem to believe Velasquez is a cardio machine & that Brock's cardio is horrendous.. I laugh at this because Velasquez has only had one fight go the distance & most of his fights have been fought at a fairly average pace. Brock has been the distance once & his fights thus far have all been fast paced & explosive.. it will be interesting, I'd expect Velasquez to have slightly better cardio because he is smaller.. however I don't think it is a substantial advantage that he can rely on. If he is taken down & has Brock smothering him for a round, his better cardio will soon evapourate.

Anyway, next UFC event is in England. Looking forward to seeing Hardy back in action & I also want to see more of John Hathaway. The Bisping fight should be good as well.

Akiyama + Greg Jackson = 3 rounds of sexy hugging!

Bwahaha. I love Bisping.
