I guess if Carwin beats Nelson he'll get another title shot against the winner of Cain/JDS. Maybe Brock does too if he beats whoever they line him up against next. Schaub maybe is in the mix. Who else besides that? Mir again? I don't think Mir is line for a shot again unless he does something really spectacular.

Yeah the HW division looks weird.

Looks like Carwin is out of UFC 125 due to a messed up back and i'm hearing rumors that Roy's knee isn't 100%. The UFC should get.....

Brendan Schaub vs Frank Mir (UFC 125)
Roy Nelson vs Cro Cop (later date)
Crawin vs Lesnar II (later date)
Crawin vs Nelson (later date)

I was gonna say that Schaub wasn't ready to fight somebody on Mir's level but he really impressed me last weekend.

Gonzaga gave Schaub the fight he wanted, Schaub isn't even that technically impressive as a striker in my view.. but he has hard hits when he connects well.

Gonzaga has decent striking, but the Mirko KO has went to his head... just like the Chuck Liddell KO went to Rashad's head. Both these guys have decent striking & yea sure they have proven they are capable of KO'ing people if you just stand in front of them.. but you have to know where your best chance of winning a fight lies & more importantly where your strengths are & where your opponents weaknesses are.

Gonzaga should have grappled with Schaub & used his superior grappling advantage over him in the same way that once Rashad fought Lyoto he should have used his wrestling.

Rashad however learned from his mistakes after one beatdown, he now knows he can't stand with guys who have extreme power & good striking like Thaigo Silva & Rampage.. whereas Gonzaga still hasn't learnt his lesson dispite being given several poundings on the feet since his Cro Cop KO.

Disappointed me to see Schaub beat someone who should be raping him in the clinch or on the ground.

Schaub should fight Pat Barry next to show him real striking.

Schaub has quick hands and power, but he just needs to learn how to mix his combos up more. He'll be better when he throws in some hooks, kicks, elbows, and uppercuts to his striking arsenal. He's a good prospect, and he's with one of the best camps in MMA. He should develop into a top contender in a year or two if he keeps his head on straight. The difference between a prospect becoming a top contender or a never-was is usually their attitude. Todd Duffee might be one of those attitude guys if certain rumors are true.

yeah I mentioned that 3 posts up.
Whoops. Didn't see it. Sorry. I was too mortified by people thinking Schaub is a good fighter because he beat sloppily a guy who has proven himself to absolutely suck as far as gameplans and fighting in all his latest bouts.

:woot:

Megumi Fujii is fighting tomorrow. Best women's fighter of all time imo.

Just caught some Youtube of her. Impressive fighter!

Tough crowd lol

a W is a W
Yes, a win is a win. However, when it's a sloppy and sucky win, it doesn't mean you're a good fighter.

I'm a Frank Mir fan. His win against Cro-Cop was lucky at best and entirely lackluster, and following that win, I don't think he should be making it back to the top of the division anytime soon, and I question where his head's at.

Point made?

Tough crowd lol
Pfft. :yay:

really? as a fight fan its always cool to see a surprise like that

Ordinarily yes, infact I like matches in which the supposed underdog turns round and pulls out a victory.. just not in this case, probably because I like Gonzaga.

It's probably ignorance on my part but I just think that had Gonzaga went in there with the mindset of winning the fight rather than just going in there, swinging bombs & trying to KO Schaub with 1 punch/kick, he'd have won the fight.

He'd have used all the tools in his arsenal, sure he has decent standup & on another night might well have come out on top over Schaub.. but when things where not going his way & he was getting tagged he should have known to switch up his game plan & get Schaub to the ground where he'd definatly have had an advantage over Schaub.

I've been reading some MMA forums & alot of people are speculating that Schaub's next fight could be Mir.

I'm interested to see who gets fired in with fat **** Roy Nelson at UFC 125.

I wonder if Mir's angry that Brock threw a better flying knee than Mir can usually manage to.

That flying knee was fierce, had it connected cleanly with Velasquez's head he'd have had a hard time coming back from it.

Not the first time Lesnar's tried it either, he did it against Herring.. but missed completely, at least this time he managed to actually hit Velasquez although I think it hit him in his shoulder.

kimbo vs lesnar maybe?
:funny:

but seriously, what's next for lesnar? taking a couple of months off and then challenge the number one contender for the belt?

Lesnar needs a couple of big fights before going for the title.

"Earn the respect" kinda thing. because after seeing how cain kicked his ass they way he did... he needs a couple of wins at least and then... title shot

UFC and WEC merging next year. WEC 52 is the last event, and the winner of Bendo/Pettis will fight the winner of Edgar/Maynard to unify the titles. Jose Aldo is also defending his title at UFC 125.

Here's the news from Dana.
