Oh My God... Beowulf. Neil Gaiman. John Malkovich. Hell yes.

Sounds cool. Although, I have a friend who's a fan of Beowulf, and he said the main apeal is the narrative style. Not something you could translate into a film.

But... look at that cast! John Malkovich! Anthony Hopkins! Crispin Glover as a hideous monster! Angelina Jolie as a hideous monster's mother!

I'm officially pumped.

This just might be the greatest film of all time if they pull it off right. A Neil Gaiman-penned Beowulf? I'm already salivating.

Could be absolutely fabulous, although, I am a huge fan of the way Gaiman goes all dark and creepy, something I'm not sure he would be allowed to do (to it's fullest extent) on a major film.

Should be awesome. I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, but I've heard he wants to do it in an animated style, the same way he did Polar Express. Maybe that's changed that was awhile ago I heard that rumour

It'll be nice seeing a cool Bob Zemeckis film again. Plus you can't go wrong with Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary (well, maybe a bit with Roger Avary, but I doubt it).

Glover as Grendel!? I'm already *********ing. Gaiman you old genius you.

It's going to be animated though...ech
I'd be excited if it were live action.

I share your concerns, but even diluted Gaiman will be something special.

Actually, it's part live action, part CGI.
If you've seen The Polar Express, it will be like that.
The actors are appearing in the film, just in CGI, like what Zemeckis did with Tom Hanks.

Beowulf is awesome and Gaiman is even more awesome. I'll be there when it opens:up:

Considering how little of a desire I have to see the Polar Express, this is gonna be a pass for me.

Why would animated be diluted? Hell, with the right animation house, a Gaiman penned Beowulf animated film would be ****ing epic.

dude, it's not really going to be a traditional animated or CGI movies.
The actors are still playing themselves, just in 3d

So, like in A Scanner Darkly and Waking Life?

Wow - I'm so glad Beowulf is going to get the treatment it deserves.

The only thing I'm worried about is the design and scale of Grendel. The size of the creature changes so many times during the tale and is never really given a solid desciption, so that aspect is left to the reader. I shouldn't say worried as much as intrigued I guess.

I hope it's not like the Xena Grendel. as much as i love that show, that grendel was just plain cheezy and crappy looking.
