Sneak Peek at Henry Selick's Stop Motion Coraline

Although I'm personally not a big fan of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, I do have immense appreciation for the extraordinary stop motion animation that filmmaker Henry Selick is a master at using. Coraline is Henry Selick's next stop animation feature film and it's an adaptation of a Neil Gaiman novel. There was a 3D teaser trailer in front of Beowulf for Coraline, if you happened to see it. If not, here's your first introduction and sneak peek look at Coraline, with the voice of Dakota Fanning as Coraline. I'm not impressed so far, but this is a short clip and I'm waiting for a real trailer to set my expectations.

Coraline is both written and directed by Henry Selick, who directed the other stop animation movies The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Monkeybone. The film is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel of the same name. Coraline is set to arrive in theaters some time in 2008. The teaser poster for the film is featured below.

December 26, 2007

Author Neil Gaiman has revealed a sneak peek at the animated Coraline on his official website! Directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas), the film features the voices of Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Ian McShane.

Based on Neil Gaiman's best-selling book, Coraline is the story of a young girl (Fanning) who unlocks a mysterious door in her new home, and enters into an adventure in a parallel reality.

This looks like it could be really amazing. I'm a Neil Gaiman junkie so I'll see it.

Teaser for Henry Selick's Coraline

February 20, 2008

Cineplex has posted online a new teaser trailer for writer/director Henry Selick's Coraline, coming to theaters in 3D on February 6, 2009 and featuring the voices of Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Ian McShane.

Based on Neil Gaiman's international best-selling book, Coraline is the story of a young girl (voiced by Fanning) who unlocks a mysterious door in her new home, and enters into an adventure in a parallel reality. On the surface, this other world eerily mimics her own life - though much more fantastical. In it, Coraline encounters such off-kilter inhabitants as the morbidly funny Miss Forcible and Miss Spink (French and Saunders, respectively), and a counterfeit mother (Hatcher) - who attempts to keep her. Ultimately, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home.

I want to see it just for the They Might be Giants soundtrack.

I'm kind of astounded that no one has made a thread for this yet. Personally, I'm ****ing pumped for this movie.

First trailer: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi513934105/

Other trailer: http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi3418358553/

I'm bumping this because I have been looking a great deal into the project. I really can't wait. That Gaimain is involved would have been enough for me to go to the theatre and check it out. But it looks breathtaking. This is going to be a great year for animated films with this and Up, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Here are some more pictures I dug up as well.

Can't wait to see this in 3D. Saw the trailer for it with MBV and it looked amazing. I like this kind of claymation stuff and it's by the guy who did A Nightmare Before Christmas, so that gives it credit for being interesting. The little 'tunnel' clip in 3D looking freaking insane.

I started seeing TV spots for this over the weekend. Looks really great

The book is wonderfully creepy, and I expect nothing less from the movie. I hope it stays true to the book while trying to shake things up a little. Pretty much what is asked of any novel adaptation.

I want to see it too. it looks like corsp BRIDE it looks werid then it look good.

I'm looking forward to this movie. But it's a not a high priority on my must-see for 2009.
